My Educational Philosophy
When it comes to education, there are a lot of barriers to students reaching their full potential. In my philosophy, the primary barriers are student resources, ability, and motivation. In order to best serve each student, a teacher must meet each student at their level through the use of student-centered instruction. Only by building rapport and using student-centered instruction to understand students’ unique resources, abilities, and motivation can we hope for students to reach their highest potential. Teachers should draw on student interests to relate them to the content area and lesson objectives. A student-centered instructor also takes student mistakes and builds on them in a positive manner. In short, educational goals are best achieved when linked to life goals. Overall, educational student resources, ability, and motivation ultimately aid in the broad progression of academic growth and achievement.
