My Education and Professional Background

Bachelor of Art Degree 1978 -Pennsylvania State University. Master of Fine Arts Degree 1981 -Arizona State University State of Arizona Certification for teaching 1999-Ottawa University. Education is a second career. I spent 18 years as a self employed business person making, exhibiting, and selling my artwork.

My Educational Philosophy

Education in the arts is an essential component of a complete education. Opportunities to explore personal creativity are becoming less available in education. it is important I believe, to allow students to learn how to use their minds, hands and materials to create real things. The art form of ceramics is uniquely suited to present opportunities for the expression of personal creative thought and connect subject areas that are often presented as separate. Physics, chemistry ,geology, history and cultural influences are topics that are relative to the art form of ceramics.
