Safety and Security
In the Chandler Unified School District, the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors is of the highest priority. We strive to provide a safe environment for teaching and learning through continual training, providing secure campuses and facilities, and a comprehensive Emergency Operations Plan. Our systems are scalable and flexible, allowing us to adapt to the evolving needs and changes to our schools and facilities.

School Safety Highlights
- Full-time District Safety Director - Mark Huish
- Safety team at every school
- Designated school resource officer at every junior high and high school
- Designated school safety officer assigned to each elementary site
- Ongoing safety drills are practiced regularly which follow ADE / FEMA guidelines.
- All administrators are FEMA-trained
- Cameras installed on all campuses
- District safety staff participate in ongoing safety training
- Front office hardening projects expanding to all elementary sites
- All CUSD staff will wear name badges
- All visitors at the campuses must wear a visible site-approved name badge/sticker
- Classroom doors will be closed and locked throughout the school day
- Elementary staff will wear a safety vest while on duty
- Sites are equipped with radios for emergencies
- Close relationship with all three municipalities (Chandler, Gilbert, & Queen Creek)
