I'm delighted to be a part of the CATS team here at Santan, working in the prestigious CUSD. I'm honored to be married and the proud father of five boisterous children. Outside of school I follow both Soccer (I coach both boys and girls soccer here at the school) and Cricket. These interests, coupled with good, wholesome Rock n' Roll music, bring enjoyment to my day. I'm looking forward to teaching and mentoring your children. I ask for your cooperation as we work together.
My Education and Professional Background
Before coming into the teaching profession I spent 10+ years working in the field of Acute Mental Health Nursing in the United Kingdom (UK) and Australia in both inpatient and community settings. My Bachelor's degree in this specific field of nursing was obtained in the UK. Upon arrival to the United States of America in early 2012 I decided to combine my partiality for counseling and public speaking with my lifelong enthusiasm for history by pursuing a career in teaching. This journey included the completion of a Master of Education and Arizona Certification in Secondary Education through Arizona State University. Through these undertakings I have also obtained Highly Qualified Teacher status for Social Science and History at both middle and high school levels.
My Educational Philosophy
History has all the thrills of any adventure story because it includes all the stories of all the adventures of mankind. Students can become mini historians and not just hearers of history. Each teaching day will be purposeful, professional and personable as students experience energy, enthusiasm and empathy. I seek to empower critical thinking and good firsthand decision making to help students become functioning members of society and successfully navigate their way in life. Society needs compassionate men who act and speak with strength and honor; as a teacher I aim to be such a man. I facilitate a collaborative approach with all students to foster participation. This affords me with job satisfaction, adds connectivity and confidence, and fulfills my altruistic commitment to the students. If I can associate effort with success and education with happiness then my role as teacher and mentor is making enduring progress.
