Welcome!

Welcome to the world of technology at Auxier Elementary! Tech class is an exciting new addition to the Music, PE, and Library classes currently at Auxier! Tech class provides an opportunity for students to safely explore the world of technology through hands-on practicing, designing, creating, building, collaborating, and sharing. Our goal is for Auxier students to enter secondary, higher education, and careers with the technical skills and knowledge of a growing and evolving digital world.

My Education and Professional Background

I began my teaching career after graduating from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1996. I have enjoyed teaching music, band, and choir in all grades (Pre-K through 12), in Washington State, Indiana, and Arizona since 1996. Starting in the 2017-2018 school year, I chose to shift my focus from music to technology and I am honored to join the Auxier community as their technology specialist. I have studied at Indiana University / Purdue University - Indianapolis, Arizona State University, and Walden University in the areas of Computer Science, Computer Programming, Educational Technology, Music Technology, Instructional Technology and Design, and English as a Second Language. I have an MS-IDT from Walden University and am a current member of ISTE and CSTA.

My Educational Philosophy

My passions include exploring innovative strategies to improve my teaching and the overall environment at my school. I strive to create a safe, nurturing, and enjoyable classroom environment for my students. My goals are not only centered around the technical concepts and skills (of course that is important!), but also to learn to respect the importance digital citizenship and practice this in our everyday lives. My role is more of a facilitator than as a teacher, to guide students as we explore new and innovative tools and become strong digital citizens together.
