The Common Application is a not-for-profit membership organization that, since its founding over 35 years ago, has been committed to providing reliable services that promote equity, access, and integrity in the college application process. We serve students, member institutions, and secondary schools by providing applications - online and in print - that students and school officials may submit to any of our more than 450 members. Membership is open to colleges and universities that promote access by evaluating students using a holistic selection process. You can download a list of schools who are utilizing the Common Application. Click on the link below for up information on How to apply

More and More colleges are also using the Coalition Application. The Coalition, composed of over 90 member institutions, was founded on principal values, beliefs, and extensive research to improve the college application process for all students. Learn more about the partnership and the individual contributions of each institution.

In addition, Coalition members hold values and beliefs  that align with recent research which, among other things, demonstrates that students thinking about college early in high school begets higher application rates.

Should your school(s) of interest offer multiple application routes, we always recommend you complete the one through the school itself first. Example: If you apply to Arizona State University/ASU through the ASU site, you will pay the in-state application fee; whereas you apply via Common or Coalition Application, you must pay the out-of-state application fee.  Additionally, the information the school application asks of you can be much less than the Common or Coalition Application.
