Jacobson Elementary (2019-2020) |
Sixth grade students have been busy painting their memory tiles during their science/social studies period over the first couple of weeks in January. Students had to preplan their design by drawing four different ideas that show they used up the entire 6 by 6 inch ceramic tile. The design was a symbol of themselves representing something that identified them as 6th graders. It had to be thought out right down to the three different colors (excluding black and white) they would use. Students were taught to color spaces but paint layers. They also learned how that technique makes the design details pop out on the white background. The Memory Wall is a Dad's Club creation starting since 2017 and continues to be sponsored by them as they take on firing of the tiles in the kiln and then hang on the wall. The tiles will be hung before the end of the school year.
