SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Neya Balakrishna was named a National Merit Finalist. Neya is among 15,000 finalists nationwide out of more than 1.6 million students in 22,000 high schools who enter the National Merit Scholarship competition annually when taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Finalists represent the top 0.5% of the state's senior students. An AP Merit Scholar, Neya is graduating summa cum laude with a 4.89 GPA, received scholarship offers valuing $1.2 million, and was accepted to 18 honors colleges. Holding multiple leadership positions, she is a Presidential Volunteer Service Award winner, president of the Hamilton Red Cross, and vice president of program for the National Charity League. She is a member of Spanish Honor Society and National Honors Society. An active emergency room volunteer at Honor Health Hospital, Neya will be attending University of Arizona to study neuroscience and cognitive science with dual minor in Spanish and art.
