Patterson Elementary - (2019-2020) Congratulations to Barbara Hahn's 4th graders, winners of the Pawsitively Clean Classroom Trophy for cleaning up their classroom this week.
Chandler Traditional Academy - Liberty Campus - (2019-2020) First grade Dual Language Immersion teacher Molly Garrison fought the rain during afterschool duty... and she won.
Knox Gifted Academy - (2019-2020) Our Knox Gifted Academy community came together and was able to collect and donate 1,550 items to Chandler CARE Center to help families celebrate Thanksgiving and beyond. Since the goal was reached, every student will get a lollipop! Thank you to everyone who donated.
Patterson Elementary - (2019-2020) Thank you to Brayden's Buddies who donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to our school.

Ryan Elementary - (2019-2020) 6th grade student Gavin T. competed in the Proof is in the Pudding Contest at the Mesa Arts Center.
Basha Elementary - (2019-2020) Congratulations to Debbie Fast of Basha Elementary who earned her National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) status for the second time. Thirty-eight teachers in CUSD have the NBCT status, and only three percent of certified K-12 teachers teaching in the United States have voluntarily worked towards and ultimately earned the rank of the NBCT title.
Chandler Traditional Academy - Independence Campus - (2019-2020) The CTA Independence National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) and student council sponsored our 2nd annual Turkey Trot. Frozen turkeys were donated to the Chandler Care Center during this event. Students, their families, and many staff members came out and walked a mile on a beautiful Saturday morning for a special cause!
Conley Elementary - (2019-2020) Conley Elementary students in Ronald Squillace's class visited Desert Cove Nursing Home. The students read stories and did a craft with patients. It was a great opportunity for students to do something positive.
Fulton Elementary - (2019-2020) Fulton Vex Robotics is kicking off the season with a bang. In the first tournament of the season, judges called for a tiebreaker for "Teamwork Champions" and team 4750C was in it. The stress was off the charts but they handled it with grace. They came in second but only missed it by two points. Team G came in third while team A took fourth place in the tournament. Additionally, team B won the Judges Award. That is a first for Fulton.
Galveston Elementary - (2019-2020) The Family Engagement Team at Galveston Elementary School, held a Movin' On Up Data Night for all families of second graders. Twenty-three enthusiastic families learned and practiced a reading fluency strategy. This reading fluency skill equips families with a research-based strategy with which to assist their child to become a better reader. Childcare was provided, the families became eager, engaged learners, and several left with fun raffle prizes! Families committed to help their child reach a goal set by their family. They left Data Night equipped with support, materials and a better understanding of how to help their child be successful.
Knox Gifted Academy - (2019-2020) Congratulations to Knox Gifted Academy third grader Puranjay Madupu who took 1st place in the Math League Competition and pushed Knox into 4th place.
Tarwater Elementary - (2019-2020) Thirteen Tarwater Elementary sixth grade girls participated in the Hermanas Event held at Chandler-Gilbert Community college and hosted by Intel. The students participated in various activities to inspire them to go to college and consider a future career in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math). One sixth grader ended the event saying, "I want to go to college. I felt like I was sitting in a college class."
Weinberg Elementary - (2019-2020) Congratulations to Weinberg second grader Payton Kornos from Mrs. Cami Smith's class who was named an October 2019 Gilbert Town Council Student Citizenship honoree!
Chandler Traditional Academy - Freedom Campus - (2019-2020) Over 100 students have signed up for CTA Freedom's newly-launched Kindness Club! The students created an act of kindness chain and displayed it for National Kindness Day, Nov. 13. Each link in the chain tells of a personal act of kindness that the students have experienced.
Navarrete Elementary - (2019-2020) Congratulations to Stella B., Navarrete 2nd grader, who achieved reading one million words -- and is the newest member of the Millionaire Club!

San Marcos Elementary - (2019-2020) Media Specialist Jolene Gallup hosted Arizona Cardinals quarterback (and Chandler High alumni) Brett Hundley for an afternoon of reading. Brett Hundley visited San Marcos for a "Cardinals Milk and Cookies" event. Students danced with Big Red, had story time with Brett Hundley, and enjoyed milk and cookies. San Marcos students left with SMILES, high fives and autographed backpacks. Thank you, Arizona Cardinals, for supporting San Marcos students and encouraging the LOVE of reading!
Andersen Elementary - (2019-2020) Northrop Grumman visited our school on their Community Give Back Day, October 30, volunteering their time to beautify our school! THANK YOU, Northrop Grumman!

Galveston Elementary - (2019-2020) Galveston 4th graders enjoyed Water Festival stations at Tumbleweed Park, put on by the City of Chandler and University of Arizona! Hancock Elementary - (2019-2020) Hancock Elementary sixth graders learned about electricity and natural resources from a special guest from SRP in science class.
Jacobson Elementary - (2019-2020) Jacobson Jets are grateful for the landscaping department. Most recently, they helped install new sod under a 30-year-old ficus tree. Their team works hard to keep the school beautiful.
Jacobson Elementary - (2019-2020) Jacobson Elementary had a record number of students apply for the peace poster contest sponsored by the Sun Lakes Lions Club and Intel. Five students turned in posters depicting their concept of what peace looks like in the world today. One was selected and turned in for the district competition: Esther Kim's depiction of Mother Earth embracing us all. Dr. Adama Sallu helped the school choose from the magnificent entries! All entries will be showcased at the fourth annual English language learners diversity picnic.
Jacobson Elementary - (2019-2020) Jacobson JETS fly with pride! At the recent school-wide quarterly spotlight ceremony, all school specials instructors highlight students who thrive in specials area classes. Students this month were chosen because of being supportive and encouraging to others. Special area teachers see close to 950 students each week. They help guide and promote growth essentials every day.
Santan Elementary - (2019-2020) Santan Elementary third grader Connor James was named "Kind Kid of the Month." Recipients of this award are nominated by their peers for acts of kindness that are witnessed around the school. Connor was nominated because he put a translation for ""Welcome to our school!" in Chinese up on the door for a new girl who doesn't speak English.
Jacobson Elementary - (2019-2020) Over 200 Jacobson students designed stars to honor loved ones who are or were in the military. Third grade teacher Monica Nicol and a team of students created a "Walk of Rememberance" to honor our country's heros. The walking exhibit starts in the front office and continues throughout campus.
Knox Gifted Academy - (2019-2020) What an amazing Veterans Day celebration! It is always such a heartfelt morning that brings tears to all of our eyes as students read original poems and narratives, patriotic songs are sung by all, and Chandler High color guard presents the flag. Each veteran was greeted with a medal of value created by fifth grade students that they were able to wear for the celebration.
Knox Gifted Academy - (2019-2020) Knox Gifted Academy celebrated our annual Fall Festival on November 8. The night included DIY games and activities created by students and families, bouncers, food, dancing, a dunk tank, and throwing pies at your teachers! Such a fun night for our community to enjoy. There are always so many KGA alumni that attend, as well, that makes it an even more special night!
Chandler Traditional Academy - Independence Campus - (2019-2020) CTA Independence invited the friends and family members of our students who have served or currently serving our country to celebrate. Students shared poems and essays that they wrote honoring our veterans. The 4th grade students also sang songs paying tribute to each branch of the military. Veterans Day Celebration - November 2019
Chandler Traditional Academy - Liberty Campus - (2019-2020) Liberty celebrates their veterans with pride! Mr. Anthony Smith, principal, led the school in a salute to over 45 veterans visiting Liberty for our Veterans Day 2019 celebration. The salute included 4th, 5th and 6th graders sharing their essays and poems, 1st and 2nd graders reading the Veterans Day Proclamation, and visiting KSLX DJ, Mr. Mark Devine, announcing the veterans names and branch of service. Liberty also recognized our veterans who are no longer with us in a Field of Remembrance. We thank all of our veterans and their families for their service. Galveston Elementary - (2019-2020) Galveston is now a proud "B " school, as rated by the Arizona Department of Education for the 2018-19 school year.
Galveston Elementary - (2019-2020) Thank you to the Chandler Rotary Club for providing dictionaries for all of our 3rd graders!
Jacobson Elementary - (2019-2020) Sixth grade leaders work with kindergarten buddies for a sweet cause! Stacy Thompson's kindergarten and Kelly Murrieta's 6th grade buddy classes found a way to make leftover Halloween candy something to learn from. Teams of two worked together to sort, count and label the candy before it was all donated to the Chandler Care Center. (OK, maybe not ALL the candy...)
Riggs Elementary - (2019-2020) Congratulations to Riggs 5th grader Sailor Maher, the Gilbert Citizen of the Month for November 2019.
Jacobson Elementary - (2019-2020) Fourth through sixth grade Jacobson Gifted Program (JGP) students participate in "Design Squad" engineering projects weekly! This week, students are collaborating to design and build bridges able to support the weight of at least 2,000 grams of pennies! The JGP is designed to challenge the gifted student through a multi-dimensional teaching approach involving special curricula, enrich-ment and the acceleration of course content.
Hancock Elementary - (2019-2020) Hancock 3rd graders learn about how to create their own Picasso in Art Masterpiece.
Weinberg Elementary - (2019-2020) Weinberg music teacher Matt Pitts was selected to present at the 2020 Arizona Music Educators Association Annual In-Service Conference to be held in January 2020. He will present on "Popular Media With Orff Schulwerk." Orff Schulwerk music and movement pedagogy contributes to development of the individual far beyond specific skills and understandings in the arts. These skills and procedures have a wider application and value in several areas: Intellectual, Social, Emotional, and Aesthetic. Weinberg Elementary - (2019-2020) Weinberg first graders in Shannon Van De Beuken's class made posters to thank and honor our veterans on Veterans Day!
Andersen Elementary - (2019-2020) Andersen 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Richardson organized and brought the ASU women's basketball team to present their Character Code assembly to the 3rd-5th grade students. Sparky joined in on the fun, too!
Galveston Elementary - (2019-2020) Galveston was lucky enough to receive a little free library from Southwest Human Development / Robson Communities, available to students, parents and staff. Take a book. Leave a book! We are so excited!
Chandler Traditional Academy - Independence Campus - (2019-2020) Thirty-five sixth grade students from CTA Independence were inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society. These students were selected as they have maintained a GPA of 90% or better since second semester of fourth grade and have demonstrated good character through their learning behavior grades.
Haley Elementary - (2019-2020) Haley Elementary's APEX Fun Run was the culmination of the school's one and only fundraiser. Not only did they raise a ton money for the school, the APEX lessons were focused upon building powerful student leaders while promoting fitness at the school.
