Willis Junior High - (2018-2019) Willis Junior High jazz band, under the direction of John Studzinski, received the highest-ranking award for their division at the Highland Jazz Festival. This annual jazz festival has been running for the past 10 years and this year had more than 45 jazz bands performing for adjudicators from all over the United States. Willis received a Superior rating from all three judges and received the highest ranked score in the Junior High and Middle School Division.
Andersen Junior High - (2018-2019) Scot Lewis was named the 2018-19 Chandler Online Academy Teacher of the Year. Scot teaches Music Appreciation and Junior High Exploring Music. Scot is currently the director of bands at Andersen Junior High.

Santan Junior High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Santan Junior High's Indoor Percussion winterguard who won the state championship on March 29-30 at Arizona State University in the junior high division.
Payne Junior High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Payne Junior High Symphonic Band and teacher Deanna Bessette who received a rating of Superior with Distinction at the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA) area festival on March 27.
Santan Junior High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to our Santan Junior High indoor drumline for capping off their undefeated season with a first place finish at WGAZ (Winter Guard Arizona) Championships at the end of March. Basha Accelerated Middle School - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Basha Accelerated Middle School student Vishwesh Vakacharla who won Honorable Mention at the Tempe Festival of Arts in the 6-8 grade section.
Casteel High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to the Casteel High School Colt Marching Band, 3rd Place - Bronze Medal winners at the ABODA (Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association) State Marching Band Championships on November 17.

Casteel High - (2018-2019) The Casteel High School chamber orchestra, under the direction of Paula Jones, was selected by the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors Association (ABODA) to perform at the 2019 Arizona Music Educators Association State in-service convention at the Mesa Convention Center. Only one school orchestra is chosen for this honor each year.
Bogle Junior High - (2018-2019) Bogle Junior High choir students participated in the Diamondbacks Choir Night and sang the National Anthem at the game.
Casteel High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Casteel High teacher Cami Clausen who was surprised Thursday, October 25 with a 2018 Fiesta Bowl Wishes for Teachers grant. Cami Clausen's wish is to take her concert choir to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall. This choir was invited to perform but does not have all the funds to travel. Elite Performance Academy - (2018-2019) Elite Performance Academy seventh grader JT Church was selected to be a pro dancer on Dancing with the Stars: Juniors! He also participated in a 10-minute photo challenge recently when his flight was delayed. So talented!
Arizona College Prep - Oakland Campus - (2018-2019) Incoming ACP Oakland 6th grader Jyotishman Nath performed the Rabab (an age-old Afghan instrument) with the Santoor (100 string instrument) maestro, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya at Arcosanti in June. Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, a well-renowned Santoor player who played with George Harrison of the Beatles and contributed to the "Chants of India" album, refered to Jyotishman as a "child prodigy." Santan Junior High - (2017-2018) Santan Junior High art teacher Stacey Celestino has submitted her work to Disney and was accepted as a freelance artist. She is officially under contract and will begin creating paintings of their characters and stories. She will start with Ariel from The Little Mermaid and will create her interpretation of Ariel and her story.

Arizona College Prep - Erie Campus - (2017-2018) Junior Brooke Betsuie entered two watercolor paintings into an art contest and sale sponsored by the Heard Museum in Phoenix. Of 500 pieces of art submitted, her painting was one out of only three selected to be published on note card sets for sale at the museum with proceeds going toward funding college scholarships. Additionally, the original piece was purchased by a Heard Museum member at the event. Willis Junior High - (2017-2018) Thirteen Willis Junior High students auditioned and were selected to perform at the American Choral Directors Association Conference over Spring break in Pasadena, California. These students spent countless hours practicing prior to the event and went through a rigorous rehearsal schedule to be a part of the ACDA Western Division Honor Choir. An exceptional music program has always been a hallmark of WJHS, and these students certainly exemplified that through their participation in this event. Arizona College Prep - Erie Campus - (2017-2018) Congratulations to Sean Cygan who received four Regional Gold Keys (1st place) in the 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the most in Arizona, for his Ceramics & Glass submissions titled Crumbling Bridge, Nezha and Saros the Archangel, and his Sculpture submission titled Paper Coil Baskets. Andersen Junior High - (2017-2018) The Andersen Junior High Choir, led by Verónica Morales, put on a wonderful holiday choir concert in December.
Santan Junior High - (2017-2018) Santan Junior High Bella Voce sang the National Anthem at ASU Marylou Fulton Teachers College Convocation. Stunning, they were an absolute hit! They even had the opportunity to do a private caroling performance for Mr. Ira Fulton and Dr. Carol Bassile, Dean of Education.
Basha Accelerated Middle School - (2017-2018) Basha AMS 6th grader Alexa Midtun was a winner in the Lions Club International Peace Poster contest.
Casteel High - (2017-2018) Congratulations to Casteel students Macey Clausen, Arielle Ayoub, Brycen Gledhill, Tyler Christensen, and Michael Contreras. Macey and Arielle were chosen for the All-State Show Choir, and Macey, Brycen, Tyler and Michael were chosen for the All-State Jazz Choir.
Basha Accelerated Middle School - (2017-2018) Kathryn Murphy, 7th grader at Basha AMS, made the WDACDA regional honor choir which will be in Pasadena, CA in March. (Western Division American Choral Directors Association - Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah)
Casteel High - (2017-2018) The Casteel Marching Band won 5th Place at the Arizona Marching Band Association (AZMBA) State Championships.
Santan Junior High - (2017-2018) GREAT NEWS! 31 Santan Junior High choir students auditioned and were selected for the elite Cantaremos Honor Choir for the state of Arizona. This honor choir consists of the most accomplished vocalists in all of Arizona. The concert is at 4 pm on November 11 at Central High School in Phoenix. Tickets are $5.
Casteel High - (2017-2018) Congratulations to our Casteel Colt Marching Band for winning second place in their first marching band competition in school history on September 23, 2017.
Casteel High - (2017-2018) Four Casteel High students were chosen for the All-State Jazz Choir, and two were chosen for the All-State Show Choir! Over 1,300 students tried out for 88 spots total. Congrats, Colts!
Arizona College Prep - Erie Campus - (2017-2018) The ACP Erie High School Symphonic Orchestra was featured as the band of the week and performed the National Anthem on 94.5 KOOL FM at NOON each day.

Payne Junior High - (2016-2017) Eighth grader Luke Hoang was recognized for his music composition skills by being one of ten people in the nation to participate in the National Junior Original Concert. His composition was also submitted for an international review! We are so proud of you, Luke!
Bogle Junior High - (2016-2017) Congratulations to Bogle Orchestra students Eve Wodarcyk, Amy Wang, Karissa Edel, Caroline Alwin, and Abby Alevizon who were selected and performed with the 2017 All-State Junior High Orchestra.

Casteel High - (2016-2017) Casteel's Dolce Choir received the highest honor, Superior With Distinction, at the Arizona Choral Educators Festival in Tucson on Oct 27, 2016. The Dolce Choir is made up of 8th, 9th, and 10th graders, and is directed by Mrs. Cami Clausen.

Bogle Junior High - (2015-2016) Eve Wodarcyk, Ashley Lepham and Jihyun Lee participated in the 2016 Junior High All-State Orchestra festival in Phoenix and auditioned for chair placement. All three were seated extremely high within their instrument sections.
