Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Hamilton Theatre won several state awards after their performance on May 24 at ASU Gammage. Our musical was in the top ten for the state for Best Musical, we won for Best Costumes, and Sophia Donnell won Best Lead Female. Sophia will go on to represent Arizona in New York City for the national competition, The Jimmy Awards. She won an all-expense paid trip for a training camp at NYU and then will perform in the same theatre as Lion King.
Chandler High - (2018-2019) Cienna Samiley, Chandler High junior, competed at the Junior Olympic Nationals in Indianapolis against the top Level 10 gymnasts in the country and medaled on the Uneven Bars with a score of 9.675. Chandler High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Faith Sterling who won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Les Miserables at the ASU Gammage HSMTA (High School Musical Theatre Awards) Ceremony. ASU Gammage High School Musical Theatre Awards website
Chandler High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Chandler High junior Casey Likes who won Best Vocalist and Best Male Lead for his role in Les Miserables. The last award makes Casey eligible for the National Jimmy Awards, so ASU Gammage is flying him to New York City June 16-25 where he will be representing Arizona and CHS at the national awards competition! Casteel High - (2018-2019) Casteel Junior High Academic Pentathlon, under the direction of Sheila Wilson, finished fifth overall at nationals in Nashville Tennessee. Additional awards include:
- Ajay Maslanka - Bronze in Math, 4th in Science and 9th overall in Honors
- Tiara Furukawa - 4th in Social Science and 8th overall in Scholastic division
- Kendall Smith - 4th in Literature and 8th overall in Varsity division

Chandler High - (2018-2019) Giselle Dominguez, a Chandler High senior, was a Finalist for the 2019 Congressional Art Show and will have her artwork hung in Congressman Greg Stanton's office until September.
Chandler High - (2018-2019) Chandler High celebrated the accomplishments of 25 AVID graduating seniors during the AVID Senior Celebration and banquet. The seniors, many of whom have been a part of the college-prep elective for four years, have all been accepted to four-year universities and have earned over $350,000 in scholarship offers.
Hamilton High - (2018-2019) In an overnight game on May 15, Hamilton High, under the direction of Coach Mike Woods, won the 6A State Baseball Championship against Corona Del Sol 8-1 at Tempe Diablo Stadium. The first pitch was not thrown until 10:39 p.m. by freshman pitcher Logan Saloman. The last was thrown at 12:30 a.m. It was the third state title in four years and the seventh overall for the Huskies.
Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Abby Liu, Ella Ai and Thalia Liu! Out of over 1,800 high school students from more than 80 countries, regions, and territories around the world competing May 12 - 17 in Phoenix at the prestigious 2019 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the team of Abby, Ella and Thalia won 4th place overall in the category of Biomedical Engineering and $500 for their project titled Identifying Key Pathways/Mechanisms for the Generation of Pancreatic Beta Cells by Trans-differentiation of Acinar Cells. 2019 ISEF Grand Award winners
Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Mindy Long! Out of over 1,800 high school students from more than 80 countries, regions, and territories around the world competing May 12 - 17 in Phoenix at the prestigious 2019 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the Mindy won 4th place overall in the category of Biomedical Engineering and $500 for her project titled A Smartphone-Based, Point-of-Care Iron Sensor Utilizing Colorimetric Techniques. 2019 ISEF Grand Award winners
Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Jennalynn Fung has been selected as a contributor for the 2019 edition of Apprentice Writer. Her photography piece, Fantasies Woven in Thread, will appear in the publication this fall. Apprentice Writer received student submissions from nearly 20 countries in this 37th year of publication.
Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Hamilton sophomore Jessica Zhang who was selected by the University of South Carolina as one of the 20 best young pianists from across the U.S. and has been invited to participate in the 17th annual Southeastern Piano Festival June 16-23. Participants will take daily lessons with university piano faculty, attend master classes with guest artists who are among the world's top pianists and practice up to five hours a day. The festival culminates with the Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition featuring $9,000 in cash prizes. Jessica has studied piano since the age of six and has won multiple piano awards. Arizona College Prep - Erie Campus - (2018-2019) We are excited to announce that Mrs. Rachna Nath was selected as an Honorable Mention for the Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators 2019, sponsored by the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for 2019. Basha High - (2018-2019) Basha High choirs, Noteworthy, Counterpoint and High Impact, earned three Superior ratings in National Music in the Parks competition at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. In addition, High Impact, Basha High School's Show Choir, won the Overall Choir award, with the highest score in the competition. Robyn Amans directs the Basha High choirs.

Chandler High - (2018-2019) Chandler High boys volleyball and Coach Bobby Robson won the state championship in a five-set thriller over Mountain View on Saturday, May 11, 2019. The victory is Chandler Volleyball's first state title in school history.
Chandler High - (2018-2019) The Wolf Howl publication team attended a Journalism Education Association convention and participated in a Write-off Competition in Anaheim, California. Two Chandler High students were honored among 3,500 attendees from around the world with two impressive awards. Congratulations to Kailey Shupe for earning Excellent in Commentary Writing, and Selena Haggerty for earning Honorable Mention in Literary Magazine: Poetry.

Perry High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Principal Dan Serrano for being named the National Association of Secondary Schools Principal's Arizona Principal of the Year! He will be honored June 10 at the Arizona Association of School Administrators Conference in Tucson.
Arizona College Prep - Erie Campus - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Arizona College Prep's Mackenzie Hanson puts 110% into everything she does. She has helped to develop the DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) program on ACP's campus and is currently a DECA State Officer. Competing at both state and national levels, she has earned 1st place in Buying and Merchandising Operation Research Event at the State Career Development Conference. She also received the DECA Speakers Bureau Award. Mackenzie also achieved athletic honors as a four-year varsity athlete. She has been recognized as Arizona All Academic Cross Country First Team, Soccer Player of the Game and Track MVP. Arizona College Prep - Erie Campus - (2018-2019) Our College and Career Specialist Mrs. Paula Dalton received recognition from the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education in partnership with the Governor's Office for Education and Achieve60AZ for helping to ensure our senior families completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). As a school site, ACP Erie had a 77% completion rate -- which is WAY above the state average!
Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Please congratulate our state champion Boys Double team of Neil Bhardwaja and Rahul Bhat! This is the 2nd year in a row that our Boys Tennis Double team has claimed the state championship. We are so proud of these seniors and Coach Gonzalez for all of their hard work.
Arizona College Prep - Erie Campus - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Susan Martin is a National Merit Finalist, Distinguished Scholar and an AP Scholar with Distinction. Susan's commitment to academics doesn't stop with her. She is the president of Arizona College Prep's Tutor Club, pairing students with peer mentors, scheduling times and places for them to meet. Susan is also involved in several clubs and organizations on campus: Spanish Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, Comic Club and Mu Alpha Theta Club. Amazingly, she still has time to dedicate to playing the oboe in ACP's orchestra. Next year, Susan will attend University of North Texas. ACP Erie Seniors Highlights
Casteel High - (2018-2019) Casteel High's chorale students recently traveled to New York with their teacher, Cami Clausen. They were participated in a private clinic with a cast member from Mean Girls (Broadway show) who taught them a dance combo and a Broadway music director who gave Broadway tips and taught harmonies from the show. They performed at Queen's College for an adjudication panel who gave Casteel a 98/100 and said they had "something special." They performed with other top choirs from around US and Canada in a Nationals choir at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Dr. Z Randall Stroope.
Chandler High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to the Chandler High Girls and Boys Track Teams, 2019 Division I State Track and Field Champions! This is the fourth championship in a row and 13th out of the last 14 years for the girls. The boys are eight-time state champions, and have won State three out of the last four years. Kudos to all of the athletes who won their races and events, including QuaRon Adams for running the 9th fastest U.S. all-time 100 meters for a freshman at 10.49 seconds. His time is a top-five all-time in Arizona as well.
Chandler High - (2018-2019) Kenneth Applegate, Chandler High junior, scored a perfect 36 on the ACT! To put Kenny's achievement in perspective, of the more than 2 million students who took the exam nationally last year, only 2,760 achieved a perfect score. Kenny has a 4.67 GPA, maintains straight A's in all of his classes (including four AP), and plays in the CHS Chamber Orchestra.
Chandler High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Chandler Boys Volleyball, the 2019 Premier Region Champions.
Perry High - (2018-2019) Perry DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) students stood out at the International competition in Orlando with 22,000 other DECA members from around the world. Paige Adams, Emily Asanagasti and CJ Parisian helped with an international officer campaign earning high praise and special praise was given to CJ for being team captain. CJ also was awarded a $1,000 AZ DECA scholarship! The Puma Den again earned International Gold Certification for retail operations. Amber Adams (Arizona DECA State Officer) finished in the top 20% for her event. And finally, Yejin Sohn earn a medal for finishing in the top 10% for her event test and finished in the top 20% overall.
Perry High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Perry students McKenna Branting, Ashley Greenlee, Brennan Acevedo and Christopher Cutruzzula who were honored at the first-ever Arizona STEM Signing Day held on April 30. Boeing recognized excelling STEM talent at the event in front of Boeing corporate leaders, local elected officials and community partners, including the Mayor of Mesa and the Arizona Board of Regents. Just like Signing Day for athletes, the inaugural Arizona STEM Signing Day celebrates students across the state as they make their commitments to education programs focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Casteel High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to the Casteel DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) chapter on their amazing success at their first International Career Development Conference (ICDC) competition in Orlando in April. Sam Perez was one of 15 students from Arizona who qualified for finals, was recognized for a top role-play, and placed in the top 10 overall in Professional Selling against over 200 other competitors from around the world. Chandler Early College - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Koen Symalla came to Chandler Early College as a freshman and has been a consistent performer academically as well as a model citizen representative of the student body. In addition to CEC, Koen has attended East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) for the last year, studying Emergency Medicine. Recently, he and a partner competed in the Emergency Medical Technician portion of the Arizona HOSA Competition. The event consisted of two rounds. The first round involved a multiple choice and written test. In the second round, the two showcased their hands-on skills. Not only did the pair score the highest written score of the event, but the duo ultimately took 1st place overall in the state. The pair will now head to Orlando in June for the HOSA International Leadership Conference. After high school, Koen plans on attending the Pima Medical Institute to become a paramedic. Hamilton High - (2018-2019) The following Hamilton actors and technicians qualified as Top Ten Finalists in the Arizona High School Musical Theatre Awards (local High School Tony Awards) for Little Women the Musical! Winners will be announced after our performance at ASU Gammage on May 24. Dashaun Dunn and Sophia Donnell are also eligible to win an all-expense paid trip to represent Arizona at the National High School Theatre Awards in New York.

Basha High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to our HOSA (Future Health Professionals, formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America) Chapters for Medical Professions and Biotechnology! Thirteen Basha High students competed in Tucson, and they all worked hard for this event. Our winners were:

Casteel High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Casteel senior Sam Perez is an outstanding student. In April, he placed in the top 10 in the "Professional Selling" category at the International DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) competition in Orlando, Florida after competing against more than 200 students from around the world. Additionally, he was the only student from CUSD to move onto finals, and one of about 15 students from Arizona to make it to the top 10. Sam has been accepted into Barrett, The Honors College at ASU. Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Melody Solorio, Sydney Lautt and Lauren Lautt. They competed at the State Leadership Convention for our HOSA club (Future Health Professionals, formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America), winning first place for their public service announcement entitled "First Moments." Chandler High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Alexander Moxley, Hailey Kooser, Kayla Plitz, Macy Canedy and Jacob Pescador who earned one gold medal (Level 4), one silver medal (Level 4), three bronze medals (Level 3) and two achievement certificates in the National German Exam (NGE Levels 3 and 4).
Hamilton High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Carson Beck was busy last summer learning to fly. He was one of 120 student cadets from around the world accepted into the inaugural class of the U.S. Air Force Flight Academy, where he earned a pilot's license. Carson was awarded the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Cadet of the Year for Arizona. He is currently a unit commander in JROTC. In addition, Carson is busy serving as Executive Officer of fundraising for Hamilton's Student Government and worked as President of LINK Crew for the past two years. In his free time, he has managed to earn the highest rank in Boy Scouts, the prestigious Eagle Scout. Carson will be attending the University of Colorado Boulder on a Marine ROTC Scholarship. Hamilton High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Destinee McCaster is heavily involved in both school and community theatre, winning Superiors and several first places for group, duo and solo performances and directing. Destinee placed first at the Chandler Film Festival for her Public Service Announcement. Her college submission short film on mental health won several awards. She is currently serving as president for both Drama Club and Film Club, as well as vice president of Urban Lemmings, an improv troupe. Destinee enjoys volunteering at the East Maricopa County Dog Shelter. She plans to attend USC in the fall. Hamilton High Seniors Highlights
Hamilton High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Ellen Napolitano won the 2018-2019 Jerome McDonough Arizona State Playwright competition. She is the current president of National Charity League (NCL) San Tan Chapter and has been an NCL volunteer for six years. Ellen attended Teen Leadership Academy her junior year and had the opportunity to intern with the Chandler Mayor for a week. Ellen represented Hamilton at Arizona Girls State this year. Hamilton High - (2018-2019) SENIOR HIGHLIGHT: Jennifer Curry made us Husky Proud by becoming a state champion in wrestling during the first year it was an AIA sanctioned sport for girls in Arizona! She maintains a rigorous academic schedule while blazing a path in her sport. Hamilton High - (2018-2019) Congratulations to Hamilton student Daniel Obarski who was selected as the Boys' Arizona State Winner in the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) Student Athlete Scholarship Competition. He received a plaque and a $500 check. Additionally, his application will go onto compete in the next round for a chance at that national award.
