Curriculum Initiatives for 2018-2019

Chandler Unified School District Dear Parents and Community Members,

Chandler Unified School District is excited to share with you some of the curriculum updates that will be occurring during the 2018-2019 school year.

CUSD will be reviewing materials for the following content areas:

  • District Reading List grades 7-12
  • Resources for high school science courses: Investigative Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Resources for high school social science courses: World History, American/Arizona History, and Economics

The process for Resource Adoption will be as follows:

  • A Request for Information will be communicated to vendors to submit proposals and materials that meet the criteria of the Resource Adoption.
  • All materials are received and reviewed by teacher representatives for each course, and will be evaluated initially on standards alignment.
  • Review copies of the top scoring resources will be made available at each school, so that all teachers may review.
  • Review copies will also be made available for 60 days for public review at the Instructional Resource Center, 500 West Galveston St, Chandler 85225.
  • An electronic form will be sent to all course teachers for them to evaluate the resources and provide input.
  • The top scoring resources will be reviewed by the district Equity and Inclusion Advisory Committee, as well as to District for negotiations.

We seek the engagement and participation of all stakeholders groups: teachers, administrators, parents, community members, and students.

If you are interested in reviewing any of these materials or have any questions about the process, please contact me.

Thank you,
