Safety & Security

September 20, 2024

Dear CUSD Community,

As we approach Fall Break, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work that has taken place throughout our district. This has been an unprecedented time for school communities. Please know that the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff, and families remain of the highest priority.

We continue to work closely with law enforcement to ensure that our campuses and communities are safe. The Chander Police Department released this video which we encourage all our families to watch. Additionally, the police agencies of Queen Creek and Gilbert (which serve CUSD schools) have Fall Break safety campaigns that we will be sharing as well. If you see something, say something. Do not repost, report. The partnership between school and home has never been more important, and together, we can foster an environment of support and understanding.

As we enter this break, please know that CUSD remains open to answer questions and provide support where needed. Whether students or staff are seeking additional guidance, mental health resources, or simply a space to connect, we are here. Our counseling and social services teams are available, and you can find a full list of resources on our website (see links below). The district office will also be open.

Going into break there is much to celebrate within CUSD. Galveston Elementary, one of our oldest elementary schools, has been rebuilt and the new building will officially open after break, ready to welcome students back into a revitalized space. Our high schools recently came together for the second annual CUSD College Fair, with more than 100 colleges, universities, trade schools, and military academies from across the nation in attendance. It was a powerful moment of unity and opportunity for our students as they plan their futures.

We are also proud to share that CUSD students have achieved outstanding results in the Advanced Placement (AP) program this year, with more than 1,700 AP awards across our high schools. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both our students and staff. On top of this, CUSD earned a spot on Forbes' list of top employers in Arizona, further highlighting our district’s excellence not only in education but in our commitment to staff wellbeing.

For nearly three decades, I’ve had the honor of being a part of Chandler Unified School District, a district known for its outstanding tradition of excellence. The rankings we achieve matter, but they only tell part of the story. We know that strong communities are built on high-quality schools, and it’s our responsibility to provide safe, secure, and well-maintained schools that foster exceptional student outcomes.

As we head into Fall Break, I encourage each of you to find time to rest, recharge, and embrace your passions. When we prioritize our own wellness, we can achieve so much more together. I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready to continue our journey on October 8.

With you in education,
Franklin R. Narducci
Superintendent, Chandler Unified School District
