COURSE DESCRIPTION
-This course is a continuation of the language and culture of the Hispanic world from Spanish 1.
-In Spanish 2 students learn vocabulary and grammar through listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
-Emphasis will be on listening, comprehension, and conversational skills.
-This course will focus on the five C's of Foreign Language, which are Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities.  Within each category are standards that will drive the curriculum for this course.

Binder with a section labeled for Spanish 2
Loose-leaf paper
Pen or pencil
 
GRADING POLICY
Students will be graded on homework, tests, quizzes, and class participation in listening, reading, writing, and speaking.  Grades will be scored as a percentage from total points earned.  
 
Daily Warm up - 5 points                                                                  A = 100% - 90%
Textbook assignments - 10 points                                                      B = 89% - 80%
Workbook assignments - 20 points                                                   C = 79% - 70%
Quizzes - 30 points                                                                           D = 69% - 60%
Dictados - 50 points                                                                          F = 59% - 0%
Exams - 100 points

HOMEWORK POLICY
Students will receive points for each completed assignment that is completed on the due date by the beginning of class.  Students will receive partial credit if assignment is turned in late.  5 points will be subtracted from late assignments.  Assignments turned in after one week of due date will not be accepted.  In order to store what you learn in long term memory, study vocabulary and new concepts a few times a week. Make flashcards!
 
MAKEUP POLICY
Students who have an excused absence on the day of a test or quiz will have one week to come in and make up work after school.  Students who have an excused absence on the day of an assignment will have one day to make up the assignment and turn it in.  It is important for students to be in attendance daily to be successful in this class.  It will be difficult to keep up with the assignments and exams in this class if a student has many absences.
 
OFFICE HOURS FOR TUTORING
Room 512 - Tuesday and Thursday 2:30-3:30 PM
 
9TH HOUR MANDATORY HOMEWORK PERIOD  FOR 9TH GRADE STUDENTS
If assigned - Monday - Thursday 2:30 - 3:45 PM 
 
ZERO HOUR ATTENDANCE
Students enrolled in a zero hour class with excessive absences and/or tardies, and failing the class may be removed from the class.  The class will be offered periods 1-6 or online after school with a fee.
 
FINAL EXAM POLICY
All students will take final exams.
 
CLASSROOM RULES
1.  Be on time.
2.  Bring your binder and pen or pencil.
3.  Leave your cell phones in your backpack.
4.  Always do your own work.
