Book Reports
Book reports will be due November 30th.  Please make sure students are
reading their books at home.  The book report will be another oral
presentation.  Guidelines and rubrics for the presentation will be given
to students next week.

 Pledging to Save Water

6th graders have been exploring the water cycle in science and tying this very important concept to current events in writing.  Students have spent the last week gathering evidence from National Geographic and NBC news reports about current challenges we face with water in order to write a problem-solution essay about the topic.  They have also become actively engaged in the solution by pledging to make a small change in their routine at home to conserve water, such as turning off the tap while brushing their teeth or taking shorter showers.   We hope this becomes a valuable learning experience in citizenship for students as they make this small pledge and even inspire others.  Be sure to check in with your student each day and see how they are doing with their pledge!

Veteran's Day picnic

We will be having an all school picnic in honor of Veterans Day on Thursday, November 12th. Please join us for
lunch. 6th grade will have their picnic at 10:40am.

We are inviting everyone to wear patriotic colors. We will be serving
hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, veggies, cookies, and beverages (milk/juice). The
cost for adults and non-Hancock students is $3.00 and the cost for Hancock students
is $2.50. Please bring cash the day of the picnic to place your order and no
bills larger than $10. We will have tables out but you may also bring
blankets/chairs to sit on. We are excited to honor our Veterans with you!

Please sign in at the front gate the day of the picnic and proceed to the
cafeteria to purchase your lunch. We will be sending home a form for you to
fill out so we can get a count for ordering food.
