Welcome to 4th Grade CATS! This year we will focus on experiencing some 21st Century Skills. What might these be? Future leaders, and this may be you, will need to possess wide intellectual curiosity, be adaptable, become life- long learners, work as a productive team member, make decisions, persevere, and have the ability to communicate one's thoughts and ideas. We will experience these skills through STEM and fun hands-on learning activites!
My Education and Professional Background
2018 - 2019 will be my 33rd year of teaching. Part of my teaching journey began as a small girl in South Africa teaching my dolls under an African Sky. As far back as I can remember I always wanted to teach. While studying in South Africa I earned a Bachelor's degree in Education, a Bachelor's in Elementary Education, and a second major in Special Education. I furthered my teaching credentials by earning a Master's Degree in Special Education from Chapman University in California. While teaching as a Resource Specialist I was fortunate to have been recognized as both Teacher of the Year at the district level and the county level. I was then selected as a semifinalist for California State Teacher of the Year in 2006/2007. My years of teaching experience include elementary, upper elementary and junior high levels.
My Educational Philosophy
As an educator I aim to help my students nuture their talents and encourage them to rise to their full potential in terms of their intellect, work ethic, confidence, creativity, and character. Working with parents as well as our Ryan community, I strive to provide a learning environment that is relevant, rewarding, challenging and fun.
