Welcome!

Welcome EPA students and families. It is my privilege to be your math teacher this year. Academic success will be accomplished similar to how you advance in a sport — with supportive instruction, practice, perseverance, and teamwork. You will be extraordinary!

My Education and Professional Background

I am passionate about education. Before knowing I was to become a teacher, my work always revolved around work with kids. I coordinated activities for an after-school program, was a camp counselor for an environmental nature camp and even had a stint as a child photographer. Eventually, it dawned on me that education was the career choice for me! My formal education includes a Bachelor’s degree and K-8 multiple subject certification from John F. Kennedy University in Walnut Creek, CA and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University. I was fortunate to join CUSD in 2002 and taught for several years at Knox, followed by Navarrete where I spent 10 years teaching primarily fifth, then sixth grade. I am just floored now to be a part of EPA and its extraordinary community of learners and educators as we embark on this new chapter together!

My Educational Philosophy

My love for teaching and education inspired me to lead aspiring and current teachers. I enjoy mentoring student and new teachers and have been involved with both ASU and NAU’s teacher education program as a master teacher for the past several years. It is not uncommon to have a student teacher in my classroom! Additionally, I taught graduate coursework to teachers attending ASU, connected to mathematical methods, content and assessment. I love the language of mathematics and its application to real world problems.

My first goal as an educator is to create optimal conditions for growth. Students will experience a positive learning environment that is both motivating and secure. The number one rule in my classroom is that we respect one another. Valuing the unique personalities and talents of each individual, is the fundamental framework for success.

Welcome!

Welcome! As we work together as teacher, student, parents and guardians, we can make this an exceptional school year. During my absence, Noelle Bouvier is filling my shoes. Please direct any questions or concerns directly to Ms. Bouvier: bouvier.noelle@cusd80.com (Long Term Substitute Teacher)

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from college with a BS in English Education. I entered the classroom 11 years ago teaching English to a bunch of wide-eyed adventurous 7th graders. Over the years, I have taught English, Reading, Video Journalism, and Theatre as well as coached softball, cross country, track, and soccer. Not only have I worked in the classroom, but I have assisted in directing plays and musicals at Mesa Community College, Desert Stages Theatre, and East Valley Children’s Theatre. I am excited to be joining EPA as the ELA teacher, and I look forward to using my unique background to challenge and excite the students at EPA.

My Educational Philosophy

Learning is meant to be fun, interactive, purposeful, and engaging. My role as a teacher is to create a student centered classroom where this is possible. Students will have the opportunity to use their knowledge to explore, ask questions, and problem solve with hands on activities, thought provoking passages, and peer interaction that reinforce the daily lessons. It is my responsibility to create an atmosphere where students not only have the opportunity to discover but can be confident and successful. It is the students’ responsibility to come to class prepared daily and be ready to work to achieve high standards and goals as individuals and as a class. Each student has a unique perspective to give and as we come together we can build a positive, safe, and successful classroom.

Welcome!

I am thrilled to be a part of such an innovative program. My goal is to create a warm and inviting atmosphere where each student can and wants to learn. Throughout the year, we will not only concentrate on academics, but we will also work on developing social and organizational skills which will serve the students inside and outside of the classroom.

My Education and Professional Background

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education in Biological Sciences from ASU. I am certified to teach high school biology and general science for grades 6-12 in Arizona. I am also endorsed for middle grade science and Structured English Immersion. I have 2.5 years of experience teaching high school science. During that time, I taught Biology and Conceptual Physics in Cave Creek and Honors Biology in Deer Valley. After relocating to the Southeast Valley, I taught Investigative Science (9th) and Physics at Queen Creek High School. In 2005, I chose to remain at home to raise my family. In 2008, I returned to teaching and became a substitute teacher for Patterson Elementary, Basha High School and Perry High School. I then became part of the EPA family during their first year in 2014.

My Educational Philosophy

Science is not only a body of knowledge but a way of thinking. My main goal is to instill curiosity in my students. Curiosity is that which initiates investigation. We will explore science through group activities which will promote reasoning and teamwork. Students will also develop their communication skills by explaining their findings through presentations and written assignments. These valuable lessons will help provide the students with the basic skills essential to their future successes.

After that, I spent 7 years at Jacobson teaching 4th & 5th grades. I started at EPA in 2015 and have been teaching 3rd-6th grades in ELA, Science and Social Studies.

My Education and Professional Background

Welcome!

Welcome to Mr. Morris’s Class! I am very excited and eager about getting to teach your students this year! I am looking forward to this being a successful and knowledge filled school year as we dive into this new start!

My Education and Professional Background

I started my educational career at South Mountain Community College where I earned my Associate’s degree. From there I transferred over to Arizona State University (Go Devils!) where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Once I received my teaching certificate I started teaching for Mesa Public Schools. I worked there for three years and then made a move to Chandler Unified Schools. I have been teaching 5th grade at CTA Independence for the last 6 years. I am currently seeking my Master’s degree in administration at Grand Canyon University. I am very excited to be a part of this amazing school.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a safe, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my hope as an educator to help students achieve their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are beneficial to creating such an environment, (1) the teacher acting as a guide, (2) allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning by form a hypothesis and testing it, and (3) promoting respect for all things and all people. In short promoting good citizenship.

Welcome!

Welcome! My name is Mrs. Luttrell. Together we will master mathematics!

My Education and Professional Background

I am happy to be returning to EPA Humphrey this year. I am a proud Sun Devil and graduated from ASU in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in education. I completed my master's degree at ASU in accomplished teaching with an emphasis on educational technology in 2015. I am excited to be part of the staff at Elite Performance Academy!

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that mathematics teaches us important lessons that go beyond the subject matter being mastered. Studying mathematics teaches us how to find solutions to difficult problems, how to persevere in the face of difficulty, how to overcome challenges, how to communicate complicated ideas to others, and how to use abstract thinking. The beauty of mathematics is not solving a problem correctly, but understanding why your solution is correct and being able to defend it. My goal is to help you understand how to come up with your own methods for solving problems.
