Welcome to Mrs. Tellez's Kindergarten class! This is my fifth year as a kindergarten teacher and I love it! I think it is so exciting to watch my students grow academically, emotionally and physically. This is my 8th year in the district. I was at Ryan Elementary for 5 years as their English Language Development Teacher. I am originally from Queens Village, New York. I moved to Scottsdale in 1994. I taught for 3 years at Estrella Mountain Elementary, 2 years in the 6th grade and 1 in the 4th.
My Education and Professional Background
I attended St. John's University where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Education with a minor in Spanish. I also attended Queens College where I earned my Master's degree in teaching English as a Second Language. I then taught in Scottsdale at Tonalea Elementary for 11 years, 2nd grade for 3 years and 8 years as the ESL Resource teacher. It is hard for me to believe but, this is my 23rd year teaching! I have two amazing daughters. Carly is in the 9th grade at Perry High and Katie is in the 7th grade at Payne. My husband also works in Chandler. He is an Economics teacher at Perry High School.
My Educational Philosophy
The mission of Carlson Elementary is to prepare a community of life-long learners to be productive and empowered citizens capable of successfully participating in society, by providing high quality instruction in an environment that is challenging, safe, and fun.
