    Welcome!

    Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Lucia Oliver, and I am proud to be part of the Rice community. I am thrilled to be your child's teacher, and I look forward to getting to know all of you and your precious children. It will be a great year full of tremendous growth and learning. Thank you for entrusting me with your child!

    My Education and Professional Background

    I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University, with a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. I have worked as a Kindergarten teacher at San Marcos Elementary and Patterson Elementary in the Chandler Unified District, and at Gateway Pointe in the Higley Unified School District. Prior to receiving my teaching certification, I was a Kindergarten Aide and a paraprofessional in the Higley Unified School District for almost 10 years.

    My Educational Philosophy

    I believe that there are four essential elements that are conducive to learning. (1) The teacher's role is to act as a guide. (2) Students must have access to hands-on activities. (3) Students should be able to have choices and let their curiosity direct their learning. (4) Students need the opportunity to practice skills in a safe environment.
