My name is Annette Addair and I am proud to be the Principal at Galveston Elementary. I love to learn and I hope to inspire students and staff to continue their love of learning as well. I am looking forward to building relationships with students, families and staff throughout this transitional and fun-filled year.
My Education and Professional Background
I most recently served as Dean of Students at CTA-Independence, but began my career teaching 6th grade in Phoenix Elementary #1. I have also taught 5th and 6th grades in CUSD at Hartford Elementary, as well as 6th grade and 7th grade SS and Language Arts at ACP-Oakland. As a reading specialist in the district, I taught grades 3-6. My State of Arizona certification and credentials are: Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education with an ESL endorsement - ASU; Master Degree in Elementary Education with a reading endorsement – NAU; Educational Leadership/Principal Certification – NAU. I'm Tribes trained; Spalding WRTR1 trained; Thinking Maps trained; ELA/Common Core – Phases 1 & 2; Marzano Evaluator trained; DIBELS, BURST and Amplify trained.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe all children can learn and I have high expectations for students, staff and myself. I am a life-long learner and I hope my passion for education will inspire students to become academically, emotionally, and socially well-rounded individuals. I believe that education helps to prepare students for life in a meaningful way, and a person is never too young or too old to be a student.
