Welcome!

Hello Galveston Lions and Parents! My name is Kelli Bishop and I am honored to have the opportunity to work with you and your students this year at Galveston. I look forward to an amazing, fun-filled school year!

My Education and Professional Background

I am proud to be an Arizona native, and attended two in-state schools. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Northern Arizona University and a Master's degree in Social Work from Arizona State University. This is my second year in CUSD, and I am so excited to continue my career at Galveston!

My Educational Philosophy

I believe each student has a unique and special story that needs to be heard, and my goal at Galveston is to be someone on campus that students feel comfortable talking to. I believe that students can be most successful academically when they are supported socially and emotionally, as well. I see so much beauty in the individuality that each student brings to Galveston.

5th and 6th graders are welcome to join band. It is an opportunity to learn something new and fun! We learn how to play the instruments, read musical notation, and how to care for the instrument. Playing in band develops self-confidence, responsibility, and requires the students to work cooperatively as a team. We give concerts during the school year and also play at flag raising assemblies. I hope to see you in band!

My Education and Professional Background

We must keep music in our schools so culture is not lost. No matter what your skill level is, I would like to help you learn.

Welcome!

I am honored to teach at Galveston and to have the opportunity to teach your child this year. My goal is to develop a positive learning community in which my students are inspired, acquire new abilities and are passionate about growing academically and socially!

My Education and Professional Background

After many years in business management and corporate training, I completed my BA in Elementary Education from Ottawa University in July 2005. Since that time, I obtained my SEI endorsement and have continued my professional education through seminars, graduate classes and certification classes in reading and writing.

My Educational Philosophy

I work to create a community environment in which your child will experience acceptance and support. I believe every child has within them the skills to reach their full potential as readers and writers. I recognize your child is unique with their own learning style. I desire to provide the support needed for them to become successful young youngsters who have love for reading, writing and learning.

Welcome to 3rd Grade! I am excited to teach you many new things. We will have an amazing year of learning.

My Education and Professional Background

I earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1986 at the University of West Florida, in Pensacola, Florida. I received my ESL Endorsement from Rio Salado College in 2010. I began teaching at Galveston in 2010. I have 16 years of teaching experience

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that students learn best when they have a positive learning environment where everyone feels safe to share their thinking and ideas. I understand that all students can learn and succeed, but not always in the same way. I differentiate my instruction to fit all learning styles through whole group or small group instruction, one-on-one learning and engaging activities. My hope is that each child is excited to come to school each day and do their personal best.

Welcome!

I have been teaching for more than 20 years in the Chandler Unified School District. Galveston is my school of choice! My daughter attended all her elementary years at Galveston. She now attends high school in the Chandler District.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my Associates of Art degree from Mesa Community College because I promised myself I would graduate from MCC. Once I decided to become a teacher, I attended Arizona State University for my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. I decided to become a principal, and received my Masters in Educational Leadership for Northern Arizona University. I have since decided that the classroom is where my interests lie, and have chosen not to go into administration.

My Educational Philosophy

Children are naturally curious. It is a joy to see them learn, understand, and grow. They learn best when they feel safe and accepted. I strive to have a welcoming community in my classroom.

Hello! My name is Sonia Perala and have been a bilingual school psychologist in the Chandler Unified School District since 2005.

My Education and Professional Background

I received a BA from Northern University, a Master's from Chapman University, and a PhD from Northern Arizona University.

My Educational Philosophy

Learning is a lifetime process about new strategies and coping, learning from parents, colleagues, and especially learning from children. Children teach us to be flexible, to have an open mind and an open heart to the joys, the innocence, and the diversity of ideas in the world. Every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world.
