Welcome!

Hi! My name is Ms. Gallup and I am excited to be our media specialist at San Marcos. Our school is a place where students love to learn and teachers love to teach. We all work hard to see students succeed beyond their own expectations. San Marcos is a close knit community that I am proud to have been a part of for over a decade now.

My Education and Professional Background

Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood: Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD (1998) Masters of Art in Education / Educational Counseling: University of Phoenix (2004). I earned National Board Certification in Early Childhood (2017). I taught both Kindergarten and First Grade for two decades and greatly enjoy the enormous amount of growth that takes place in these younger years. As a Media Specialist I am continuing my own love of learning and sharing my love of children's books with our students. I also have the pleasure of helping with the KSMB News each day. It is so much fun to see our 5th and 6th graders gain new skills and confidence in the area of video production. I have proudly spent my career teaching in Title I schools.

My Educational Philosophy

My educational philosophy is continually evolving and changing as my own knowledge about teaching and learning continues to grow. I believe that all children can learn and that this begins with a partnership between teacher and parents who all have high expectations. Learning is hard work and sometimes it takes some bumps along the way to reach those end goals. I believe in a structured classroom environment with clear expectations for my students, but in the end know that we WILL have a lot of FUN along the way.

Welcome!

Welcome to 3rd grade at San Marcos!

My Education and Professional Background

This is my 9th year teaching and my 3rd year teaching 3rd grade at San Marcos. Before coming to San Marcos, I taught in Seattle, Washington and Charlotte, North Carolina. I was born and raised in Phoenix and earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education at Arizona State University.

My Educational Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is centered around Maslow's hierarchy of needs. I feel that students must feel safe and cared for before they are ready to learn. I focus on creating a collaborative classroom community where students feel safe and able to take risks. I love teaching and it is my goal for all of my students to enjoy coming to school.

Welcome!

Welcome! It is so exciting to be a part of the learning community of San Marcos Elementary School. As Pre-Kindergarten students step into their new educational life at school, it's an incredible joy to see them experience this new world of learning and all it has to offer their growth and development.

My Education and Professional Background

Growing up in Chicago and after the fun (really!) high school years, I graduated Northern Illinois University with my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education. I began my teaching career in elementary school physical education and over the years have been privileged to teach high school physical education and health and athletic coaching plus elementary school classrooms in a variety of settings, University ESL, and adult education. Teaching and serving others also took me to Africa to teach English to doctors and nurses in Rwanda. Here at San Marcos I get to join teams of amazingly creative and dedicated teachers. We commit together to provide your children a positive and developmentally sound foundation for a lifetime of learning. We are a family! With a welcoming environment and integrated curriculum that looks toward a global society setting high expectations and personal goals for achievement.

My Educational Philosophy

Preschool is very exciting for both students and teachers. It's a timne to experience many opportunities for discovery and learning together with other children and teachers. My classroom is a safe and caring place where students are free to express their uniqueness. Children are great immitators which challenges me to demonstrate the best I can be for them. Thank you for choosing San Marcos Elementary School where I have get to share their joy and love of learning in a fun and challenging environment.

Welcome to Kindergarten with Ms. Sandoval!!

My Education and Professional Background

Bachelors in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University

My Educational Philosophy

I believe communication is key between the teacher, students and parents. I believe practice, practice, practice at school and at home is the best way to get better. I believe hands on interactive along with using a pencil and paper is how Kindergarten students learn. I believe in building a community in the classroom and a relationship with each individual child along with the class as a whole is very important.

Welcome!

Hello and Welcome! I am so excited to be at San Marcos teaching K-6 Special Education. I look forward to working with and learning from your students!

My Education and Professional Background

This is my second year teaching at San Marcos Elementary. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education (B.S.Ed.) as well as a Master of Education degree in Special Education and Assistive Technology (MEd). I earned my degrees from Northern Arizona University (Go Jacks!) and I bleed Blue and Gold!

My Educational Philosophy

No great learning can be achieved without a great relationship; therefore I make it my mission to connect with each of my students in order to establish and maintain their trust. Every child is welcomed and included in my classroom. I believe students should be active participants in their education. They should have the opportunity to create, lead, and construct their education with hands-on and real world experiences. Learning is not a passive process and I do not expect my students to sit by absorb information spouted at them; rather, students must be engaged and ready to work hard! You would be amazed what your students can do by simply presuming competence.
