FIRST QUARTER:
KINDERGARTEN - Kindergarteners are singing two welcome songs as well as a "Going to the Farm" song. Kinder is learning a song for six different farm animals and played an instrument for each animal:
ducks - guiro tone block
sheep - vibraslap
hen - egg shaker
cow - hand drum
horse - jingles
pig - rhythm sticks
In August, Mrs. Niederer will demonstrate the piano, flute and trumpet for the students, and we will read and watch musical instruments for, Zin Zin Zin A Violin.
We will also begin some new lessons with a fun guy named Quaver. He has some new fun songs, music movement, and listening activities.
FIRST through FOURTH GRADE - We are learning about folk music and folk dancing. Ask your child about rock candy, sashay, and split! Soon our vocabulary will also include words like do-si-do, allemande, promenade, and much more! We are getting a great workout and getting to know the other students in our class as partners. Folk dancing is a ton of fun!

FIRST GRADE - First graders are working to complete the first grade music curriculum through Quaver Music. This year they have been learning about meters, pitch, singing, melodies and melodic patterns, dynamics (loud & soft words in Italian), tempos (slow & fast in Italian), and instrument families.
SECOND GRADE - Second graders completed their Americans All performance and have been learning about instrument families.

2) Solfege with Daily Do (do re mi fa sol la ti)
3) Baroque era of music
4) Crescendo & decrescendo
5) The "-issimo's" with fortissimo & pianissimo
THIRD GRADE
1) Treble clef introductions
2) Rhythms with note & rest values
2) Learning the singing, dialogue, and movements for the fun Summer Camp musical
FOURTH GRADE
1) Continuation of treble clef note names, mneumonics to remember to the note names, learning more about note and rest values along with the note names, and have demonstrated their knowledge through playing written music on xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels
2) Instrument families - links will be given to sign up for string orchestra or band for next year!
