About
Pekara...
Welcome to 5th Grade! I am looking forward to a productive year filled with discovering new concepts and building a caring community. I live in Gilbert with my husband Ron and son Braylon. In my spare time, I love to read, create art, and play with my family.
My Education and Professional Background
I received my Bachelor's degree in education from Concordia University: River Forest, Illinois in 1997. In 2010, I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Language and Literacy from ASU. I have my English Language Learning endorsement, Reading endorsement, and English as an Approved Area of instruction. Thinking Maps, Write from the Beginning, and Read Naturally are just a few of the programs in which I am trained. I began teaching in 1999, took two years off to be home with my son, Braylon, and returned to teaching in 2008. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade with most of my years being in 5th grade.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe all people are capable of learning. As a teacher, I facilitate the learning process by providing a safe environment for students to take educational risks. My goal is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to be lifelong learners and responsible citizens.
