|"You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives."|

Welcome to 8th grade math! I'm excited to be a part of the Santan Junior High School team. I look forward to watching your student grow throughout the year and strive to create lifelong learners and lovers of math!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education in 2006, and continued on to finish my Master's in Educational Psychology in 2008, also at ASU. I taught 3rd grade for 5 years at Sanborn Elementary in Chandler before moving up to junior high.
My Educational Philosophy
Learning is discovering something new. It occurs at any time, so teachers must take advantage of teachable moments as they arise. My job is to facilitate that discovery. Students who enjoy discovering on their own, continue to discover and become lifelong learners.
I want to develop students who love to learn. I will assist in their development and encourage the use of critical thinking and problem solving skills. Each student will have the tools necessary to discover anything th they will be encouraged to continue discovering what interests them, expanding their knowledge base, and applying that knowledge to their own life situations.
My own professional growth is also extremely important to the success of my students. I strive to model lifelong learning through continual professional development, and analysis and reflection of my teaching practice. I hope my students will realize the importance of lifelong learning and incorporate it into their own lives.
