|"You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives."|

I'm excited to be a part of the Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary team. I look forward to working with teachers and students throughout the year and strive to create lifelong learners and lovers of math!
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education in 2006, and continued on to finish my Master's in Educational Psychology in 2008, also at ASU. I have experience teaching at the elementary level, as well as junior high math, before moving into my role as Math Coach.
My Educational Philosophy
Everyone is capable of learning in their own way and all students can be successful. Through my work, I hope to show both teachers and students that there is no such thing as being “bad” at math. With a foundational understanding, problem solving skills, and perseverance, anyone can be successful, even if it takes extra time. I hope those I work with will see that with continual effort, they can attain whatever they set their mind to. My own professional growth is also extremely important to the success of those around me. I strive to model lifelong learning through continual professional development, and analysis and reflection of my teaching and coaching practice. I hope those I’m impacting will realize the importance of lifelong learning and incorporate it into their own lives.
