Welcome Third Graders

My Education and Professional Background

Hi, I'm Mrs. Barcelo! Welcome to an amazing new year at Bologna Elementary! This year will be full of knowledgeable lessons, incredible experiments and projects, and of course, all around priceless learning! Our goal this year is to have fun and to academically do our best throughout our year! I was born and raised in Chandler, Arizona. I attended Sanborn Elementary and Willis Junior High. I am so proud to be teaching in my home town! I have taught for eleven years with the majority of that time teaching fourth grade and third grade. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff. I was lucky enough to be part of a specialized program that gave us daily experience inside the classroom with many grade levels throughout my college experience.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that every student is unique, lovable and capable of success. Learning is a lifelong adventure that includes much more than academics. I want my students to feel confident in exploring the world around them. It is said "it takes a village to raise a child" and I'm proud to be a part of the learning/growing process for children. I am always open to new ideas! “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” ― Mahatma Gandhi.

Welcome!

I'm the Dean of Students for Bologna Elementary. I moved to Arizona in 1993 from Oregon and never looked back, despite the hot, dry Arizona summers. I have been a part of the Bologna family since the year 2018. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, going to the movies, traveling to warm beaches, shopping and spending time with family and friends. My husband, Patrick and I live in Ahwatukee with our daughter, Reagan and our three cats.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Finance in 1992. After graduating I realized my true dream was to become an elementary school teacher. I moved to Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University with a Masters of Education in 1995. After graduation I taught in the Kyrene School District for 4 years teaching 3rd and 4th grade. I left the classroom to become a consultant and trainer for the Success for All Foundation (SFAF). I worked with Southern California and Arizona schools to help strengthen their reading program implementation and increase their students' reading success. After a year of traveling, I was ready to go back into the classroom. In the year 2000, I became a 5th grade teacher at Frye Elementary and then after one year I became the Curriculum Specialist. I also have my SEI endorsement and I am trained in Facilitative Leadership, Tribes and DIBELS.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe every child is unique and deserves a caring, inspiring, and engaging atmosphere in which to grow emotionally, intellectually, and socially. As an educator I want to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing a safe, risk-taking, and collaborative environment. I want our students to development positive character and leadership traits which are essential in becoming a productive citizen. I believe a positive elementary education is essential to creating successful life-long learners.

Welcome!

I am elated to be working with your child in fourth grade! The fourth grade team works very closely and we are excited to tackle all of the challenges and witness all of the successes that will occur this year.

My Education and Professional Background

My teaching career has flourished in the Valley of the Sun for 18 years. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University, as well as a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix.

My Educational Philosophy

My educational philosophy included two very necessary components: mistakes and perseverance. I believe, that with encouragement from their support network, our students will learn more than they ever dreamed they could. It is important for students to feel comfortable with their teacher, their families, and their friends to push themselves a bit harder and make those mistakes. Mistakes generate learning! Perseverance is important because students cannot quit trying.

Welcome!

Welcome to Kindergarten!!! We are going to have a fun and busy year of learning and growing together! I look forward to working with all of my families and building a wonderful community together. It is going to be a successful year!

My Education and Professional Background

I have been teaching in the Chandler Unified School District since 2008. Prior to coming to Bologna, I taught preschool in the district at Pathways Learning Center and Hartford. I opened the preschool program here at Bologna. After having lots of fun in preschool, I moved on up to kindergarten and have loved every minute of it as well! Early Childhood Education has always been a focus and love of learning for me. I am a Chandler native and a proud graduate of Chandler High School. GO WOLVES! I attended Arizona State University for my undergraduate degree in Education and received my Master's degree from there in Curriculum and Instruction with an Early Childhood Endorsement as well as my SEI endorsement. GO DEVILS! I spend my time outside of school with family and friends. I married my Jr. High/High School sweetheart Steven. We met at Andersen Jr. High here in Chandler many years ago. We have a son named Cutler and a daughter named Jamisen.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that kindergarten is important because it provides the first steps for your child in strengthening their socialization skills, learning how to compromise, be respectful of others and problem-solve. It bridges the gap between the age when kids spend their days playing (at home, or in daycare/nursery school) and the more formal learning begins making it a smooth transition into the first grade. Kindergarten also provides a place where your child can gain a sense of self, explore, play with their peers, and build confidence. I love that I get to be a part of that!

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my 5th and 6th grade Orchestra page. I am happy that I have the opportunity of working with your child this year. I began playing the violin when I was in elementary school and it has been such a positive influence in my life - It is my hope that music will be the same wonderful experience for my students as well. Since high school, I have played semi-professionally in various styles of music including symphony orchestra, mariachi, and experimental rock settings.

My Education and Professional Background

2019-2020 marks my first year in the CUSD Instrumental Music department. Previous to this year, my most experience includes teaching 6th grade CATS (CUSD's gifted program) from 2006 through 2019 at both Santan and Hull Elementary schools. During that time, I have played with both the Chandler and Gilbert symphonies and maintained a private violin and piano at-home studio. Before moving to Arizona in 2005, I also taught in the states of New Mexico and Texas where I received my BS degree in Multidisciplinary Studies in 1996 along with a minor in Music Education. I consider myself fortunate to be able to work in both fields of study!

My Educational Philosophy

As an educator, I believe my most important job is to make school a safe and inviting environment for students. It is only then that students are able to learn... I also think that parents are an important part of our learning team and hope that we will do what we can to make orchestra a great experience for their children.

My Educational Philosophy

We all have a starting point, and that starting point is where we are right now. We work together to help each other grow. We will make mistakes together. We will fail together. We will make corrections together. We will find success together. It is my job as a teacher to hold my students accountable for their failures and their successes. In my classroom, failure is not a bad word. We look forward to failing. We learn from our failures and we grow from our failures. We cannot gain knowledge if we are afraid to fail. To model this, I do not hide my failures as a teacher. I talk about them with my students and we work together to fix my failures so I can be a better teacher. Likewise, when a student fails, we work together so that they can fix their failures and grow as a student.

My Educational Philosophy

Anyone can learn given the right motivation. All children are unique and have something special they bring to their own education. It is up to the teacher to assist them to express themselves and accept them for who they are, to accept the differences in others. The classroom should be a safe and caring community. Student should be able to express themselves and grow as a person. They should also understand there are high expectations expected of students and teachers in the classroom.

Welcome!

Welcome to Band! I teach at Riggs, Ryan, Bologna and Hancock. I am so excited that your child chose to learn an instrument. It can be one of the most rewarding experiences. I hope your child enjoys learning their instrument as much as I enjoy teaching it. I thank you for supporting your child with this endeavor. Please feel free to email me(name/school) with ANY questions or concerns you may have and anything else you feel I should know about your child to make this experience most enjoyable.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my music education degree in 1995 from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. My main instruments are flute and oboe but I learned to play ALL instruments in college, including strings. I have taught many areas and levels of music from grades k-12 such as general music, choir, and concert band as well as marching band and jazz band. I have been teaching with Chandler Unified School District since 2006 and have taught at almost a dozen district schools including Basha High. I attended graduate school at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Beyond the classroom, I'm a private lesson instructor, a freelance musician and a colorguard tech for the WGAZ circuit.

My Educational Philosophy

Music is a universal language, 'the language of emotions'. For children, music has many benefits. It boosts their brain power and improves their memory. Music facilitates learning other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use in other areas It teaches them confidence, patience, coordination and socialization. Music can be a much needed connection for kids in ways that other things will not allow. It teaches discipline, fosters creativity and is a great form of expression. Music is Math, langUage, hiStory, readIng, sCience! All of which is food for the mind, body, and soul!

Welcome!

Welcome! I am from Canby, Oregon. I am married, have a 3.5 year old son, and a dog named Lily. I look forward to working with you to make your child's school year a rich and rewarding experience. Together we can cooperate to help support your child through a very important year. Please call or send me a note if you have any questions or concerns.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Oregon University. This is my 17th year teaching in a public school. Before teaching in public schools I taught Kindergarten in a private school in Oregon for 3 years. During the 2004/05 school year I was the K-1 reading teacher here at Bologna, and the year before that I taught First Grade in Tucson. This is my 16th year teaching at Bologna. In addition to teaching here at Bologna, I also work for the City of Chandler in the Therapeutics Division. During the school year I help coach run club for the Chandler Special Olympics. I also help with other activities and events throughout the year.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.

Welcome to Ms. Moreno's Class Website. I am very excited to have technology access to my kiddos and their parents. During this time, I want it to be very clear how I am very dedicated to our communication together as well as learning in or out of the classroom. I will always be here to help you all through this time of change as well as possibilities. Look forward to our new adventure together!

My Education and Professional Background

My educational background includes a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a History Minor. I also have a Masters degree in Educational Leadership with a Community College Emphasis, as well as a Masters in Geographical Education. I have my ELL (English Language Learner) Endorsement, and I have a several college credit hours seeking an additional Masters in English as a Second Language. My professional background started with becoming a teacher's aid while I was in college. Next, I student taught in order to complete my teaching degree. In 2008 I started my teaching career and have taught ever since, therefore this is my 12th year teaching and I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!!

My Educational Philosophy

I believe education is a pivotal driver of change, advancement, and equality in society. The role of a teacher is to use classroom instruction and presentations to help students learn and apply concepts in all subject areas. Students learn best in a warm and supportive environment where they feel the teacher truly cares about them and their success. A teacher's primary goals are to help students figure out who they are and how they can be of service to their community. An effective teacher needs to have a basic sociocultural awareness of and acceptance of their own and others' cultural identities. I certainly believe that each student can learn; the key is understanding what educational methods work best for each student and then catering instruction to each student's individual needs. I have a passion for my students and their learning. I am a life long learner myself therefore, my passion and love for my students as my own works well with our goals in class

I am very excited to be working with your child this year in preschool! On this webpage you can find useful information about our classroom and some websites that students can use at home to practice what they are learning.

My Education and Professional Background

I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. This is my 7th year teaching in the beautiful state of Arizona. I taught 3rd grade for 4 years, 4th grade for 2 years, and this is my first year getting the opportunity to work with your preschoolers.

My Educational Philosophy

My educational philosophy is that every student should be in a positive and supportive learning environment. Every student should be comfortable learning and sharing ideas inside the classroom. I also believe that perseverance and mistakes are necessary in a classroom. Students will have to persevere during challenging tasks and never give up on their end goal. As they are being challenged they will make many mistakes and they can then take that opportunity to learn from their mistakes. Every student can make their own dreams come true when they are able to learn from their mistakes and persevere!

Welcome!

Welcome to preschool! Thank you for the privilege of providing early intervention services to your preschool student at Bologna Elementary.

My Education and Professional Background

I have worked in the early intervention field since 1995 after graduating from Arizona State University (ASU) with a Master’s in Communication Disorders. My prior work experiences include home-based therapeutic services for AzEIP and DDD, clinical/classroom services and staff training with Southwest Human Development and the Infant Child Research Program at ASU, as well as research, teaching and student training at ASU. I have been with Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) since 2014 and am currently focused on preschool services for students enrolled in CUSD programs. My particular areas of interest are play and social-emotional development and feeding intervention.

My Educational Philosophy

The intervention model used in CUSD Priority Preschool classrooms is inclusive, which means I work closely with the classroom teacher and paraprofessional staff to ensure that intervention strategies are in place throughout the daily classroom activities.  I am on site every day and will be in your student’s classroom twice weekly. I believe that caregivers are an integral part of their student’s success and I look forward to providing families with home-based activities and ideas to help work on your student’s communication and play skills.

I believe that each child has a unique way of learning. I value, and help develop curiosity, interest, skills, and abilities through a safe and fun environment. Creating a safe environment is extremely important to me as I know environment plays a huge impact on how a child grows. My goal is to provide opportunities through play for a child to enhance social, independent, cognitive, and communication skills.

My Education and Professional Background

I was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Toronto, Canada. I completed my degree in Elementary Education in 1996 and began teaching soon after. I have taught Kindergarten, First and Fourth grades in both public and private schools, in Canada and the United States.

My Educational Philosophy

Children come in all shapes and sizes, with different interests, talents and abilities. As their teacher, I strive to help students to reach their full potential by celebrating their achievements and encouraging their progress. I will work to create a learning environment where students feel safe to take risks, to make mistakes, and try each day to do better and be better.

I am originally from Wyoming (Go Cowboys!) I have been teaching for 17 years and I have the best job in the world where I get to play all day!
