Welcome!

Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Jenny Athanas and I have taught Kindergarten at Haley since 2014. I feel so incredibly lucky to be a part of this amazing school and be able to call myself a Haley Tiger!

My Education and Professional Background

Before teaching kindergarten, I taught preschool for 3 years in Chicago. I graduated from ASU in 2012, (GO DEVILS!!!), with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I'm in love with teaching these kindergarten kiddos and am excited for the many years to come!

My Educational Philosophy

I strongly believe that learning cannot take place until a child feels welcome, safe, secure, and happy. It is so important to me that all my students feel accepted and loved, and that they have a warm environment to come to when they are here at school. This is especially important in Kindergarten, as this is the first experience many children have in the world of education. My goal is to foster a love of learning and education within my students that will last a life-time!

Welcome to Ms. Malley's 3rd Grade Classroom Website! This site will offer you some handy information about your child's classroom, schedule, homework, activities, website suggestions, and some other interesting facts and ideas.

My Education and Professional Background

Education: M.S. Reading and Language Arts, B.S. Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Education Endorsement, A.M.S. Montessori Teacher Training for 6 - 9 year olds, SEI Endorsement

Professional Background: I have been teaching for several decades (even though I can't possibly be that old!). I have taught preschool through 6th grade in America and Japan. My teaching experience encompasses everything from Montessori for elementary-age children, public inner-city schools, suburban schools, and wealthy private schools. Within these schools, I have taught general education, Title I, and gifted classes.

My Educational Philosophy

I love learning and teaching and want to share these passions with my students! My goal is to create a safe and caring learning environment where all of my students feel inspired, challenged, happy, important, and excited to come to work each day. I want my students to love learning, to be curious about their world, and take joy in being kind to everyone. I want them to be willing to ask questions and share their ideas, to know that mistakes are a normal part of the learning process, and to be excited about stretching their knowledge and potential. We are here to help each other reach higher and higher in our quest for knowledge and our desire to be the best we can possibly be, so we can do our part to make the world a better place.

Welcome!

Welcome! thank you for looking. Haley is a great place to be~ Imagine. Believe. Achieve.

My Education and Professional Background

I've been fortunate to have a variety of experiences within my teaching career. I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education in 1997 from Illinois State University, from there I did my student teaching in England where I gained my first experience with a National Curriculum. I then taught a K/1 multi-age program in an inner city near Chicago. Our move to Arizona in 1999 brought me to my next teaching assignment. There I spent 2 years teaching a K/1/2 multi-age program and one year teaching kindergarten. From there, I relocated and spent 4 years teaching morning kindergarten and 3 years teaching 1st grade. Following that I taught Kindergarten and then 2nd grade for 7 years. I've been at Haley since 2014. I've had several trainings along the way, most specifically with Write From the Beginning and PLCs.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe all children deserve the same opportunity to learn, and that all students can be successful learners. When clear expectations are established as a classroom community, and the specific learning styles of children are determined it is much easier to create meaningful lessons that students have a personal connection to. Building on student's past experiences will also aid in their buy in and help build a natural curiosity. Involving parents in all aspects of learning is also vital. Using current research, collaborating with my colleagues and attending professional growth opportunities will help me continue to revitalize my teaching and make sure I am preparing our students for the future. By collecting data and work samples I will be able to judge the effectiveness of my teaching and modify it accordingly.

Welcome!

Welcome to 3rd Grade! I am so very excited to be your child's teacher! I look forward to an amazing year of growth as well as creating a supportive community within our classroom. We are going to have a fantastic year!

My Education and Professional Background

I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 2005 and my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix in 2008. I've been teaching since 2006. I have taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 5th grade, and 3rd grade!

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment, (1) the teacher acting as a guide, (2) allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and (3) promoting respect for all things and all people.

Welcome!

Welcome to 2nd Grade! My name is Stephanie Palomarez and I will be your child's teacher this year! I am excited to get to know you and your family throughout our time together. A little bit about me: My husband's name is Manny and he is also a teacher at Hamilton High School. We have two little boys named Tripp and Parker who keep us very busy!

My Education and Professional Background

I began teaching in 2004. The first 10 years of my career were spent in Kindergarten. I then made a leap to 4th grade and was lucky enough to spend 5 fabulous years in that grade level. I realized that I was ready for a new challenge and 2nd grade was calling my name…so here I am!! I grew up in Scottsdale, AZ. After graduating from High School I attended Arizona State University (GO DEVILS!) and got my bachelors in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Helping students to develop a deep love and respect for themselves, others, and their environment is an ongoing process throughout the year. When the voice of each student is heard, an environment evolves where students feel free to express themselves. Class meetings are one way to encourage such dialogue. I believe children have greater respect for their teachers, their peers, and the lessons presented when they feel safe and sure of what is expected of them. In setting fair and consistent rules initially and stating the importance of every activity, students are shown respect for their presence and time. In turn they learn to respect themselves, others, and their environment.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Northern Arizona University (GO JACKS!) with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. I'm currently working on my Master's Degree in Elementary Education through NAU and my National Board Certification. I spent my first two years of teaching in Williams, Arizona first teaching 5th grade, then 4th grade my second year. I have been at Haley since 2016 and I'm thrilled to be teaching the best class ever!

My Educational Philosophy

I believe in setting clear, high expectations for my students. I want to foster a classroom environment where learners are self-motivated to learn and to become the best version of themselves. I believe that each student should have the same opportunity to learn and that mistakes are a normal part of the learning process. I desire for each student to feel loved, important, and safe. I also hope for them to take joy in being kind and treating others with respect. I want our classroom to be a place where they fell safe to share their thoughts and to feel a sense of community. I believe the classroom should be a place where students can grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. Students should be actively engaged in their learning. I think that it is important to relate the curriculum directly to the students’ interests. I believe that when students see themselves in their curriculum, they are more motivated to work hard and try their best!

Hi! My name is Mrs. Kingry. I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade at Haley again this year. I am looking forward to getting to know each child in my classroom and building a classroom environment of support and trust! It is going to be a great year of learning and growing together!

My Education and Professional Background

I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University in 2011. My first year of teaching, I taught 6th grade at a charter school in Phoenix. The summer of 2012 I got married and moved to Tucson where my husband was finishing his Master's at U of A. That year I taught 5th grade in the Marana Unified School District. In 2013, my husband and I moved to Spain and taught English for nine months. We were able to see many different countries and experience many different cultures. I taught 1st-6th grade and I really enjoyed learning more about education from a different perspective. I have been teaching 5th grade at Haley Elementary since 2014!

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that every child has the ability to learn and that each of them learn in their own way. Every child that comes into my classroom has something unique to offer that helps build on our classroom culture. I believe a positive classroom environment, that is built on trust allows students to succeed. At school, I strive to enjoy what I teach so students can enjoy what they learn.

Welcome!

Welcome to Mrs. Kringen’s 5th Grade Class! I can’t wait to meet you and I’m looking forward to sharing in the educational journey that lies ahead of us this year! After 15 years in the Kyrene School District, I decided to make Chandler my new home in 2017. Along with my wonderful Haley students that I call family, I have two incredible daughters of my own and a supportive husband. The joy from my students’ growth and learning, as well as the love from my family, inspires my teaching every day!

My Education and Professional Background

I am a proud University of Arizona Wildcat and went on to pursue my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I started my teaching career in the Kyrene School District in 2001 where I taught 4th-6th grade. For the last 7 years in Kyrene, I was an Instructional Math Coach. I believe the life-long learning of teachers is vitally important to student achievement, and this position gave me the wonderful opportunity to attend amazing professional development and mentor teachers.

My Educational Philosophy

It is my goal to create a classroom environment where students are held to high expectations, while feeling comfortable to take risks because of the respect and support of one another. Helping children develop their academic and social potential by watching them persevere when problem-solving, and self-discovering the best way to approach problems, is critical to understanding and learning. Haley is just the place where I want to continue my growth as an educator and prepare students to be 21st century learners.

Welcome!

Welcome to our Haley Website, I am Mrs. Miller. I am originally from Dayton, Ohio and in August of 1994, I moved to sunny Arizona.

My Education and Professional Background

I attended Arizona State University (GO DEVILS!!) and received a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education. While in my first year of teaching I finished and earned my masters from Northern Arizona University in Elementary Education.

My Educational Philosophy

I take great pride in knowing that my students are experiencing success and enjoy learning. Teachers are in the position to be able to have a life long impact on their students and I want to be able to make a positive difference in the lives of children. Since I was young, I have had the desire to be a teacher. This desire continues to grow stronger and through my experiences working with children I have realized my dedication to the teaching profession. For me, being a teacher is not so much a choice, it is my calling. My life has changed because of the magic we have created in my classroom. Remember DREAMS do come true!!!

Welcome!

Hey Haley Tigers! I'm Miss. Green and I am thrilled for another year as the K-3rd Resource Teacher. In fall of 2016, I had the privilege of student teaching here at Haley. After graduating, I had the great opportunity to jump onto the Special Education team permanently. I am pumped to to start another school year with Tiger Pride.

My Education and Professional Background

I grew up in west Chandler and attended school in both Kyrene and Tempe Union School Districts. I headed up to Flagstaff Arizona after graduating high school in 2012. Being an NAU Lumberjack was an incredible experience for 2 years; however, I missed home and headed back to the valley where I became a ASU Sun Devil. I graduated from the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College with a Bachelors of Art in Elementary and Special Education in December 2016.

My Educational Philosophy

My classroom is notorious for laughter and learning with a multi-sensory approach in a respectful environment. I utilize music, movement and imagery into each lesson because as a past resource student myself, I know that every child learns differently. We are a family in my room and my students know that they need to challenge themselves each and every day. We work as a team and the words, "I can't" is not in our vocabulary. We've got a job to do, and that's to show everyone that the kids in room A23 are the best students on campus!

Welcome to the resource room!

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Arizona State University with a Master’s in Education – Cross Categorical, Special Education and Elementary Education. I graduated from Walden University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Child development.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe education is one of the most important tools a person can have in life. Every child deserves to receive the best education possible, regardless of the obstacles that stand in their way. Learning in the least restrictive environment, gaining necessary life skills and learning how to relate and communicate with people from different walks of life is imperative to the success of any student. It has always been my passion to help each child discover their individual gift and talents and to reach their full potential. All children carry special gifts inside of them. I believe that anyone working with a special needs child has the responsibility to identify those gifts since they often go unnoticed. People often focus on the deficiencies of special needs children, but I feel more attention should be focused on their gifts. As a special education teacher and advocate, my job is to recognize and celebrate the differences that make each individual special.

Welcome!

My name is Sonita Newsome. I have been a Chandler USD Speech/Language Therapist since 2006. Before that I was a Speech Therapist in New Jersey.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my undergraduate degree in Communication disorders (Speech Pathology) from William Patterson University. I received my Master's degree in Curriculum Instruction from University of Phoenix. I have completed my Doctoral program in Educational Leadership from Argosy University and currently working on my dissertation focusing on “The relationship between teacher preparation and student achievement in Arizona public schools. I am certified and licensed through the state of Arizona.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe the study of communication, is practiced and applied by our students and ourselves on a daily basis. As a result, we teach by what we do in the classroom as much as by what we say. By modeling good communication for our students, within the subject matter we also teach with enthusiasm. I strongly value the diversity of learning styles as well as the unique perspectives that my students may bring to the therapy room and their classroom.
