Welcome to 6th grade!
Dear Parents and Students,
I am so excited to be your English Language Arts/Social Studies teacher this year! So a little about me, I grew up in Pennsylvania where my whole family lives. I love going back to visit in the winter to see the snow or in the fall to marvel at all the autumn colors on the trees. I'm not going to lie, I really just like to jump in the leaves! I received my Bachelor's Degree in Political Science because my original plans were to attend law school. When that didn't happen, I received my Master's Degree in Education also in Pennsylvania. My first teaching job was in Pennsylvania over 20 years ago in 1999 and have never looked back. With the sun calling out my name, I moved to Arizona in 2002 where I continued to teach elementary students in the 4th grade for five years. After taking a brief time away from teaching to have my son, and live in the Philippines, I returned to what I love to do-TEACH! I was hired to teach 6th grade Language Arts at the Kyrene School District and was there seven years. I taught English Language Arts with an endorsement in Gifted. Why leave Kyrene after all those years? Well, we built a new house in the Chandler/Gilbert area in 2015. We were making the trek from Gilbert to Ahwatukee for years, and we decided it would be wonderful to be a part of our community if we attended school in our neighborhood- a Chandler school. Now my son is in High School! I have been part of the Basha Elementary family since 2015 and just love the community feeling here!
My wonderful son, Dante, who I am sure you will hear many stories about (good and bad) is going into 10th grade. In our free time we like to swim, visit the park, go to the movies, and get outdoors. Of course, he loves video games and now cars!
I look forward to lots of learning this year and making your last year at Basha Elementary the best it can be. All of us in 6th grade are excited to be your teachers!
