Welcome!
Welcome to Orchestra! Music is a subject that allows for development in many other areas, such as social skills, math, determination, as well as teaching patience and organization skills. I cannot wait to make music with the students and embark on a wonderful musical journey together!
My Education and Professional Background
I am a violinist and music educator with nearly 20 years of performing experiences and 11 years of teaching music lessons. I have played with the Butler University Symphony Orchestra, the Wheaton Pops Orchestra, and have been concert mistress of the OPUS and the Glenbard West Orchestras. I was also the concertmaster of the Civic Theatre Orchestra and Ohio University Symphony Orchestra, as well as a member of the Klinder Graduate Quartet. I have toured Italy and Slovenia with the International Music Festival of the Adriatic. An avid teacher, I have taught at Stacey De School of Performing Arts, Butler Community Arts School, Christel House, Shortridge High School, OPUS Chamber Music Camp, Athens Community Arts School, and B Amazing Music. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from Butler University and a master's degree in Violin Performance at Ohio University, studying with a full scholarship and assistantship in the Graduate Quartet. I receieved my teacher's certificate from Rio Salado and have been teaching in CUSD since 2019.I love traveling and have been to 20 countries! This year I am going to France, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, and Germany. When not playing the violin or traveling you can find me at home reading or walking my dog, Edgar!
My Educational Philosophy
I enjoy sharing my love of music with others and believe that music and the arts are key to a well-rounded education. Music can teach students empathy and can serve as a creative outlet that can stick with them for the rest of their lives. I believe every child has the right to experience music as part of their education and that anyone can learn to play an instrument if they put their mind to it.
