About Mrs. Merillat...
Position: Technology Teacher
Room: F4 - Technology Lab
Hello! My name is Michelle Merillat and I live in Chandler with my husband and two children. When you don't see me at school, you will most likely see me bike riding or hiking with my husband. I have been dancing since the age of 10 and have never stopped! I continue my love for dance here at school with the Jacobson Spirit Line and the Jacobson Drama Club. I also volunteer at a non-profit dance studio. In my spare time, I love to read novels, especially realistic fiction, historical fiction, and memoirs. I also love to relax by the pool with my family and friends.
My Education and Professional Background
I am proud to say that I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Language and Literacy in Curriculum and Instruction. I have been teaching since 2001. My career started in the Tempe Unified School district where I taught for 5 1/2 years. I have been teaching in CUSD since 2007. I have taught grades Kindergarten through 4th grades in the classroom. I was happy to call the Jacobson library my home for four years. My latest adventure lies teaching technology to grades K-6. I also coach the Spirit Squad and Spirit Squad after schools here at Jacobson and help direct our Jacobson Drama Club as well.
My Educational Philosophy
As the Jacobson Technology Teacher, I want all of my students to feel welcome in the technology lab. I want the lab to be a place that students can come and feel confident and proud of their learning in the new ways of learning through technology!
