About
Garcia...
Welcome to 5th grade! I am so happy to be teaching your children this year! I look forward to an amazing year of growth as well as creating a supportive community within our classroom. It is going to be a FANTASTIC year!
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Arizona State University in 2005. While working in the business world, I spent much of my free time after work teaching youth dance classes as well as tutoring intermediate elementary students. I had such a love of working with children that I soon returned to school to earn my education degree. I have been teaching since 2008 and have spent the majority of my teaching career in the fifth grade classroom!
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that learning is lifelong and includes much more than academics. I want each child in my classroom to be a person of character, internalizing and demonstrating the traits of integrity, courage, compassion, respect, responsibility, fairness, and citizenship. My hope is that my love for teaching will create a passion for learning within my students. I strongly believe that a strong partnership between home and school will produce the most successful impact on our learners. I look forward to getting to know each of my students and their families this year!
