My Educational Philosophy

My counseling philosophy is based on grit and a growth mind set. Helping students embrace challenges, persist in the face of setbacks, see effort as the path to mastery, learn from criticism, find lessons and inspiration in the success of others and develop a perspective that they do not understand it –YET. Providing the students to have a sense of belonging in the school environment, and having a positive attitude toward work and learning.

My Education and Professional Background

I attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and graduated in 2000 with my BA in Elementary Education. During my senior year at Ball State, I was hired to substitute teach part-time for Muncie Community School District. I loved the schools within my community and knew that I wanted to be part of the district that educated my community and my children. Muncie Community Schools hired me to teach a Basic Skills Math Class for grades 9-12 and from there I moved into the elementary schools where I taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and Physical Education for grades K-5. After moving to Chandler, again I wanted to teach in the community where I live. I was hired to teach 2nd grade at Fulton. My Educational Philosophy

I chose teaching as my career because I have always wanted to give to and serve others. I found that teaching children is a happy and loving way to make this happen. Children say and do the most amazing things! Their abilities are limitless! Welcome!

Hi! I'm Margie Foster. I am so happy to be Librarian here at Fulton. I have been happily married to 'my person,' Jeff for 29 years. We have two dogs (our kids): Foxxy, a border collie mix, and our newest addition, Pearl, a jack russell. In my spare time, I love to hang out with friends, read, plan, and visit my family when possible.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from Arizona State University in 1999 after serving as a teacher's aide in first grade for 5 1/2 years. I knew my calling the moment I stepped into the classroom. The pursuit of my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education made it very clear to me that I loved everything about school. I then went on to garner my Master of Education from Northern Arizona University in 2006. I truly consider myself a lifelong learner. I have been teaching in since 1999. Time flies when you're having fun! I joined the CUSD team in the 2003-2004 school year teaching Kindergarten. While part of CUSD, I have taught grades K, 1, 2, 3, 6, and I’m entering my 9th year as Library teacher. I am currently part of the inspired Fulton Elementary team as Media Specialist/Librarian-Teacher.

My Educational Philosophy

My goal is to help all students find the book lover within. I do everything in my power to provide support, guidance, and learning opportunities for all students. Reading is the gateway to success. I firmly believe every child has the right to a quality education. The skills and support I provide in the library are paramount in that process. What we teach children to love and desire will always outweigh what we make them learn. - Jim Trelease, Read Aloud Handbook

Welcome to Physical education...the best part of day!

My Education and Professional Background

I have been teaching in the Chandler Unified School District since 1984! I taught at Knox for 7 years, then transferred to Jacobson when it opened in 1991 and spent 9 years there. My next stop was 11 years at Tarwater where I had a climbing wall installed and I have been part time at Fulton since 2011. B.S. Lock Haven State College (PA); M.S. Arizona State University; National Board Certified Teacher in Physical Education

My Educational Philosophy

Humans were designed to move! I love teaching all levels of students the joy of movement and sports. Exercise and Physical Activity is an important part of a child's development. Fit children are better prepared to learn due to increased oxygen levels in the brain which allows nerons to connect.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to your child’s sixth grade class! My name is Brittany Shirkey (Mrs. Shirkey), and I absolutely love teaching. I have a serious passion for learning and can't wait to ensure that your child is learning up to his or her potential! I think it’s important to instill a love of learning from an early age. Above all, my job is to promote the idea that learning is truly a lifelong journey that is not only important, but also fun.

My Education and Professional Background

My unquenched desire to learn and subsequent dream to teach were fostered right here in Chandler, Arizona! I first attended a CUSD school in third grade and later became a graduate of Chandler High School (go Wolves!). I earned my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from ASU (go Devils!). My career began teaching first grade in Mesa, and I am so excited to be working in the district I was in. Growing up in Chandler, I was blessed to be a part of a caring, supportive, and loving community. I had fantastic teachers that made me believe that I could do anything I set my mind to. My hope as an educator is to give the same attention and care to my future students and have them enjoy learning for a lifetime. I have two beautiful daughters, Amariah, who is four and Ayla, who is in fifth grade.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe in providing my students with a safe and caring environment. I believe in allowing students to be free to explore new ideas. I believe in making sure they are cared for and loved. I want to instill a lifelong love of learning and a strong connection to their community. I truly believe we live and work in one of the best cities in the Nation.
