Welcome!

Hi! My name is LeAnn Tucker. I am so excited to be your 5th grade Reading and Science teacher. I grew up in a small town in East Tennessee. I lived in Florida for the past 3 years and just relocated to Arizona this summer. I am married and have 3 awesome kids; Kylie, Colton, and Kinley. My favorite things are my family, the beach, coffee, and of course teaching! I love being and teacher and helping my students succeed! I look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you!

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated from East Tennessee State University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I taught 4th grade Math and Science while I lived in Tennessee. In Florida I taught all subjects in 4th grade for 2 years. I have just started my Master’s degree program for Educational Leadership at the American College of Education.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe education is not a standard for all individuals. I think that is something that looks very different for each and every student. Our job as educators is to find out the different ways each of our students learn and try and implement different strategies and best practices that will help students reach their full academic potential. Building relationships are also a key component to helping your students; knowing their likes and dislikes, what motivates them and what doesn’t. It is important to make sure your students know that you as their teacher truly care about them as a who individual and that they are not just number or a data statistic. While data is important to help establish where students are and what goals to set for them, it does not define them as a person.

Welcome!

Welcome to the world of 4th grade! I am so honored to be your teacher and can't wait to get to know each and every one of you. We will be going on a fun adventure together this year and I can't wait to see where we end up!

My Education and Professional Background

This will be my 4th year of teaching and I am very excited! In 2017 I graduated from Anderson University in Indiana with my bachelor's in education with a dual license in English as a Second Language and Spanish. My first two years of teaching was abroad in the Dominican Republic, where I taught 3rd grade. Last year I taught a class with 4th and 5th grade mixed in Mesa Public Schools. I can't wait to see how I grow this year teaching 4th CTA!

My Educational Philosophy

I wholeheartedly believe that each child is unique with various backgrounds, strengths, and gifts. Each child has the ability to learn and pursue their dreams from what they have been given. I believe that it is my job to help guide them to pursue that dream as well as learn from the other unique individuals in the classroom. Community within the classroom is very important so I intend for the students to not only learn from me but learn from each other. This could be through success or through mistakes. Either way, I believe that each child will grow in their education and character.

Welcome!

My name is Christie DeCarlo-Merone. My husband and I relocated from NY in 2003 to start our family. We are blessed with a son and a daughter who bring us such joy. I am looking forward to teaching students how to be leaders, problem solvers, and critical thinkers, as well as, arming them with the knowledge they need to be successful learners. I uphold high expectations for students, and I know together we can meet them.

My Education and Professional Background

I completed my honors program and received my Masters degree in Special and Elementary Education from Manhattanville College in NY. I also majored in history and have a minor in art. I have taught every grade level focusing on students with disabilities for the past twelve years for Gilbert Public Schools. I have grown so much professionally over these years. I am passionate about continuing to participate in professional development, so I can share new ideas with parents, students and colleagues. I am particularly interested in the exploration of differentiated instruction in an effort to meet the needs of diverse learning styles.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that all students can learn and it’s my job as an educator to help cultivate their strengths and provide opportunities for growth in areas of weakness. I believe students need feedback to grow, as a result it is essential to communicate with both students and parents. It is also equally important, to build a supportive classroom community, so students feel comfortable to take risks and where mistakes are viewed as opportunities to learn and grow. I think high expectations and standards should be set for students, but that I need to use a variety of instructional techniques for students to achieve their personal goals. I feel strongly that there should not be a cookie cutter classroom or one size fits all class, because students learn differently and have different interests. At the end of the day it is my goal to have students enjoy learning.

Welcome!

I am elated to have the honor to be your child's fourth grade teacher this year! Thank you for taking the time to look at my district website. My husband, three daughters (which includes twins!) and I, have made Gilbert our beloved home. Some activities I enjoy include: spending precious time with family and friends, attempting new recipes, reading, rejuvenating with exercise, and attending both Cardinal Football games and U of A games in Tucson. I look forward to a memorable school year!

My Education and Professional Background

Born and raised in scenic Tucson, Arizona, I attended the University of Arizona (Bear Down Red and Blue!), where I earned a Master's degree in Language, Reading, and Culture and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (with a focus in Bilingual Education). It sounds unbelievable as I type this but, I have been in education since the Fall of 2000. I taught for eight years in elementary schools in Tucson, ranging from kindergarten- third grade. I then relocated to the Phoenix area and taught one year in the Kyrene District for an elementary English Language Learner program. My next teaching adventure was three years in the Tempe District, teaching Spanish in middle school. I was a fifth grade teacher at CTA Humphrey for four years. I'm beyond excited to continue teaching fourth grade at Auxier!

My Educational Philosophy

I pursued a career in teaching because I strongly believe in my vital role as a teacher to help shape ALL students into individuals who not only succeed within the classroom, but also learn the invaluable skills to be successful citizens of our world. Reminding them that with perseverance, dedication, belief in one's abilities and hard work, anything is possible.
