Sixth, seventh and eighth grade physical education at Andersen Junior High School focuses on improving students' physical fitness, promoting healthy habits to meet long-term fitness goals, and practicing skills and concepts integral to both team and individual sports, such as commitment, determination, and cooperation. PE can be taken for a full year or a single semester. Each quarter contains three, three-week sports/fitness units, and not a single unit is repeated throughout the year.

My Education and Professional Background

Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, specialization in language arts from Oakland University. In 1999, I began teaching language arts to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students at D.W. Higgins Institute in Tempe, AZ. I moved to the Chandler Unified School District, and I began teaching seventh grade language arts at Andersen Junior High School in 2002. I transitioned from teaching language arts into coaching physical education in 2006.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that the content being taught to students needs to be relevant to their current lives and is taught in a way that can produce measurable outcomes that display rate of growth.
