I believe in the power of shared learning and working as a team, as well as the power of each individual student. I enjoy seeing things through the eyes of my students and spending time with each one to understand how they think and reflect on their learning. I work hard to help struggling students master concepts and challenge those who are ready for it. Seeing the looks of success and inspiration on my students’ faces makes every day a gift.

My Education and Professional Background
I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from ASU and then realized that I wanted a career in education. I received my Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Certification, followed by a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe in the power of education and that every child deserves the opportunity to learn and reach his or her full potential. I am honored to be an educator and feel a great sense of responsibility to encourage and support students as they learn and grow. I strive to know each child as a learner and set high expectations for what he or she can achieve. I am in the classroom to guide, to teach, to care, and to prepare each child, as they grow and become a part of the global community.

Welcome to 5th grade and a new year of learning experiences! I am originally from Texas, lived for some time in Nevada, and then moved to Arizona to pursue my dream of becoming an educator at ASU. When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies, drinking coffee, and spending time with my friends and family. My husband Bret and I have two children named Brodie and Adalynn. They keep us quite busy! We are Disney fanatics!

I have been teaching since 2004. I have taught 6th grade, 4th grade, and 2nd grade. I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade!! In 2004, I received my Bachelors Degree from ASU in Elementary Education. In 2008, I received my Masters Degree from NAU in Curriculum and Instruction. I completed my second Masters in Educational Administration in 2015, and have my principal certification.

It is the role of the teacher to take notice of the many changes students are going through and provide a unique educational experience that meets these ever changing needs.

Hi! Welcome to 6th Grade – room M1! I am excited to be your child’s 6th Grade teacher here at Sanborn. I began working with CUSD in January of 2015, after being away from teaching for a few short years. During those years I was working at a Fortune 500 company, but my mind kept returning to teaching. I was lucky enough to obtain a position at CTA Liberty in January before making my way to Sanborn. I am much happier doing what I love – teaching.
My Education and Professional Background
I received my BA in General and Special Education from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, N.Y., and began teaching with the NYC Dept. of Education in 2001. Between N.Y.C and Phoenix, AZ, I have taught every grade from 3 – 6 including Special Education, General Education and Alternative Education
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that the best way to learn isn’t just through reading about something, it also includes discussion and the exchange of information and experiences. I feel that everyone, no matter their background or age, have experiences and knowledge that they can use to help and educate someone else, and I encourage my students to bring these things into the classroom. This helps to build a community of learners who begin to think outside of the box.

I earned a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts in 1991 and a Master of Science in Education with a specialization in Learning Handicapped in 1998 from Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles, California. In 2012, I was named a Rodel Exemplary Teacher by the Rodel Foundation of Arizona.
