Welcome!

Welcome to 1st grade! My name is Alison Marsh. I grew up in Tempe and currently live in Chandler with my husband and two children: Connor (7) and Juliette (5). Our family enjoys swimming, hiking, playing with our dogs and vacationing.

My Education and Professional Background

My early experience working with school-aged children at an after-school program led me to pursue a degree in education. I graduated from Arizona State University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught for ten years in the Kyrene School District and in 2018 took a break to care for my children. During my time at Kyrene de la Colina I taught K, 1st and 2nd grade. I enjoy planning engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners. Over the summer I took a Spalding course. I am confident in implementing The Spalding Method along with Daily 5, Thinking Maps, educational games and technology throughout the learning day.

My Educational Philosophy

My teaching philosophy starts with connecting with students and their families. The goal is to work as a team so each child can be successful and reach their full potential. I use Love and Logic in my classroom. The process of empathizing with students and giving them the tools to solve their own problems creates a healthy classroom community. I am looking forward to starting my first year at CTA Liberty and getting to know you and your child as we work together to help them reach their full potential!

My Educational Philosophy

I create an environment that is safe for learners to take risks and celebrate mistakes and wonder what comes next. Teaching students about how technology can enhance their learning is a passion of mine.

My Education and Professional Background

My years in the classroom (both as a student and teacher) provide a strong foundation of knowledge and real world experiences. I hold a Master's in Elementary Education, which I received from Northern Arizona University. My teaching certification credential and mathematics endorsement was obtained by completing course work at Arizona State University. Prior to teaching, I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Administration from Fresno State University. As I continue to pursue teaching with passion and dedication, I'm continually looking for ways to educate myself and grow professionally as an educator in order to give the best possible education to my students.

My Educational Philosophy

Education is a door of opportunity for each and every child to learn, grow, and strive to "individually" be the best they can be! The classroom is a secure, nurturing, and caring place where learning and growth occurs. It is an equitable atmosphere where each child is challenged, encouraged, and inspired emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Every year I acknowledge and respect the fact that my classroom is filled with unique individuals who vary in talents, abilities, and interests. Thus, as an educator, I strive to provide each child with the opportunities, experiences, and tools necessary to be successful at their current educational level, be prepared for the next educational level, and ultimately reach their fullest potential in all they strive to be and do. This motivates me on a daily basis to be dedicated to giving my personal best to each and every child, knowing that what they experience yearly in my classroom is just one step in the lifelong learning process.

I have taught at the elementary and junior high levels and am excited to be teaching 3rd grade. Parents are an essential part of the educational process at our school and it is important to maintain open communication throughout the year.

My Education and Professional Background

I am a 1996 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where I majored in Elementary Education and Spanish. In 2001 I graduated with a Masters in curriculum and instruction. I completed my Administrative Certification Coursework in December of 2008. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and Spanish, M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, Administrative Certification.

My Educational Philosophy

My personal goal for my future classroom is to challenge students and watch them grow to their full potential. I want to take students at different levels and see them develop together for the betterment of each individual. Therefore, group work is the key to having a successful class and is something I value, especially with older students. The impact of group work, when students help fellow students, changes each person and transforms the atmosphere of the class as a whole.

Since opening the school back in 2002, I have always enjoyed working with the students here at Liberty, and I look forward to working with your children again this year in PE! We will try new things. We will work hard. We will do our best. We will have FUN!

My Education and Professional Background

Before working towards my Principal Certification, I earned a M.Ed. in Leadership and a second M.Ed. in Human relations from NAU. Before that, ‘back in the day,’ I earned a BA in Secondary Education, Physical Education from ASU. I have also enjoyed serving the community in various venues including serving on the AzAHPERD board (Arizona Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance) from 2005 through 2010.

My Educational Philosophy

The PE curriculum used in Chandler, "Dynamic Physical Education," focuses on "fitness for life.” In the program, children are exposed to a wide variety of activities (and no, Dodge ball isn’t one of them). :o) The program is process oriented rather than product oriented to encourage active participation of all students. PE is taught in a positive environment where all children have the opportunity to experience success and gain skills helping them maintain an active lifestyle in the future. As in a regular classroom at Liberty, expectations are high as there are educational and curricular content and standards to be covered. All students will be expected to participate to the best of their abilities and respect is a must. With everyone respectful and working hard, though we may not get to do everyone’s favorite sport, we will do many sport related skills and activities for everyone …while having a lot of fun doing them!

My name is Sonita Zaire. I have been a Chandler USD Speech/Language Therapist since 2006. Before that I was a Speech Therapist in New Jersey.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my undergraduate degree in Communication disorders (Speech Pathology) from William Patterson University. I received my Master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction from University of Phoenix. I have completed my Doctoral program in Educational Leadership from Argosy University and currently working on my dissertation focusing on “The relationship between teacher preparation and student achievement in Arizona public schools”. I am certified and licensed through the state of Arizona.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe the study of communication, is practiced and applied by our students and ourselves on a daily basis. As a result, we teach by what we do in the classroom as much as by what we say. By modeling good communication for our students, within the subject matter we also teach with enthusiasm. I strongly value the diversity of learning styles as well as the unique perspectives that my students may bring to the therapy room and their classroom.

Welcome!

5th and 6th graders are welcome to join band. It is an opportunity to learn something new and fun! We learn how to play the instruments, read musical notation, and how to care for the instrument. Playing in band develops self-confidence, responsibility, and requires the students to work cooperatively as a team. We give concerts during the school year and also play at flag raising assemblies. I hope to see you in band!

My Education and Professional Background

Bachelor degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Michigan Masters degree in Saxophone Performance from Arizona State University

My Educational Philosophy

All children should have the opportunity to learn about music and how to play an instrument. Music forces the brain to work in full capacity. Music speaks beyond the spoken word, and across cultures. We must keep music in our schools so culture is not lost. No matter what your skill level is, I would like to help you learn.

Welcome!

Hello my name is Carlie Ramirez and I am a full time Resource teacher here at CTA Liberty. I work with Kindergarten through 6th grade in reading, writing, math , and behaviors.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated with my Masters Degree from ASU in 2013, majoring in elementary (1-6) and special education (k-12). I have been working as a resource teacher at Washington School District for a few years. I recently moved to Chandler and will be working in the Chandler District starting 2016-2017 school year.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment: the teacher acting as a guide, allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and promoting respect for all things and all people.
