I am excited about the many wonderful days of learning that we have ahead of us in our first grade classroom! I am anxious to get to know you, and you are probably just as anxious to get to know me. My Education and Professional Background

I am a graduate of the College of Education at Arizona State University, and I received my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Arizona University. I have endorsements in both reading and English Language Instruction. I have been teaching first grade since 1999. Spalding is very near and dear to my heart, so I chose to become a Spalding Certified Teacher.

My Educational Philosophy

The reason I chose to become a teacher is because education has always been an important part of my life. I come from a family of educators and have grown up watching my family members, especially my mother, positively influence the lives of hundreds of children. I knew from the moment I set foot into my mother’s classroom that I would devote my life to children. My goal is to create a community of lifelong learners who will always value the importance of education. I am excited to be a part of our new Spanish Dual Language Immersion program here at Liberty as well! I love to teach literacy and am thrilled to be able to teach the English Language Arts to 60 first graders!

Welcome!

Welcome to CTA Liberty! Wisconsin is were I was born and raised. After college, I began my teaching career in Texas, where I lived for 10 years. My husband and I moved to Arizona in 2000, and we have enjoyed raising our 2 children in Gilbert. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends. Teaching students about how technology can enhance their learning is a passion of mine.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin in 1991. My teaching career began in Houston, Texas. After teaching kindergarten and first grade for 7+ years in Texas, I moved to sunny Arizona with my husband and found joy in raising my children. I could not stay away from teaching for very long. When a position opened up at CTA Liberty in 2007, I decided it was the perfect opportunity for me to share my love for teaching once again.

My Educational Philosophy

Teaching is my passion, and I hope to instill a love for learning in each and every child. Each and every child should be given the opportunity to reach their true potential. Children should not be questioned IF they can reach their goals, but instead HOW they WILL reach their goals. My job as a teacher is to help guide students to think critically and to explain their thinking in order to expand on their connections and knowledge.

Welcome!

Welcome to sixth grade! I'm excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I'm looking forward to a wonderful and productive school year. I love teaching here at CTA Liberty and have been part of the Liberty Eagle family since 2006. Besides being a teacher, I enjoy watching movies and love sporting events; especially College Football, "Go Blue!" and our AZ Teams: "Go DBacks, Cardinals, and Mercury!" Once again, welcome to sixth grade. Let's work together to make this the best year ever!

My Education and Professional Background

My years in the classroom (both as a student and teacher) provide a strong foundation of knowledge and real world experiences. I hold a Master's in Elementary Education, which I received from Northern Arizona University. My teaching certification credential and mathematics endorsement was obtained by completing course work at Arizona State University. Prior to teaching, I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Administration from Fresno State University. As I continue to pursue teaching with passion and dedication, I'm continually looking for ways to educate myself and grow professionally as an educator in order to give the best possible education to my students.

My Educational Philosophy

Education is a door of opportunity for each and every child to learn, grow, and strive to "individually" be the best they can be! The classroom is a secure, nurturing, and caring place where learning and growth occurs. It is an equitable atmosphere where each child is challenged, encouraged, and inspired emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Every year I acknowledge and respect the fact that my classroom is filled with unique individuals who vary in talents, abilities, and interests. Thus, as an educator, I strive to provide each child with the opportunities, experiences, and tools necessary to be successful at their current educational level, be prepared for the next educational level, and ultimately reach their fullest potential in all they strive to be and do. This motivates me on a daily basis to be dedicated to giving my personal best to each and every child, knowing that what they experience yearly in my classroom is just one step in the lifelong learning process.

Dear Parents, Welcome to 3rd grade. I am excited to welcome new students to the classroom. My name is Stephanie Battani and I was born in Des Moines, Iowa. I moved to Chandler in 1996. I have taught at the elementary and junior high levels and am excited to be teaching 3rd grade. Parents are an essential part of the educational process at our school and it is important to maintain open communication throughout the year.

My Education and Professional Background

I am a 1996 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where I majored in Elementary Education and Spanish. In 2001 I graduated with a Masters in curriculum and instruction. I completed my Administrative Certification Coursework in December of 2008. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and Spanish, M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, Administrative Certification.

My Educational Philosophy

My personal goal for my future classroom is to challenge students and watch them grow to their full potential. I want to take students at different levels and see them develop together for the betterment of each individual. Therefore, group work is the key to having a successful class and is something I value, especially with older students. The impact of group work, when students help fellow students, changes each person and transforms the atmosphere of the class as a whole.

Welcome!

Since opening the school back in 2002, I have always enjoyed working with the students here at Liberty, and I look forward to working with your children again this year in PE! We will try new things. We will work hard. We will do our best. We will have FUN!

My Education and Professional Background

Before working towards my Principal Certification, I earned a M.Ed. in Leadership and a second M.Ed. in Human relations from NAU. Before that, ‘back in the day,’ I earned a BA in Secondary Education, Physical Education from ASU. I have also enjoyed serving the community in various venues including serving on the AzAHPERD board (Arizona Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance) from 2005 through 2010.

My Educational Philosophy

The PE curriculum used in Chandler, "Dynamic Physical Education," focuses on "fitness for life.” In the program, children are exposed to a wide variety of activities (and no, Dodge ball isn’t one of them). :o) The program is process oriented rather than product oriented to encourage active participation of all students. PE is taught in a positive environment where all children have the opportunity to experience success and gain skills helping them maintain an active lifestyle in the future. As in a regular classroom at Liberty, expectations are high as there are educational and curricular content and standards to be covered. All students will be expected to participate to the best of their abilities and respect is a must. With everyone respectful and working hard, though we may not get to do everyone’s favorite sport, we will do many sport related skills and activities for everyone …while having a lot of fun doing them!

Welcome! Hi, my name is Barbara Aldecoa-Escobedo and I am extremely excited to be part of the CTA-Liberty staff. My position as the Student Services Coordinator is to provide services for our students so that their educational experiences are meaningful and successful. I truly enjoy working and building relationships with students, parents, and the community. I am looking forward to a great year and working with all of our students, staff, and families.

My Education and Professional Background

I earned my Bachelors of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from Arizona State University (Go Devils!). I also graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and earned the credentials for my Reading Specialist Endorsement. I also earned a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and have my Administration Certification. My professional career began in 1993 when I accepted my first teaching position in the Chandler Unified School District. Before coming to CTA-Liberty, I taught first grade, second grade, and served as a Dean of Students.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each student is a unique individual that possess a variety of gifts. We must identify those gifts and help them pursue their gifts to become successful students. My mission is to teach our students to make positive choices, display good character, and learn to treat others the way they would like to be treated. I believe opportunities for “teachable moments” arise throughout our day and we must use them to teach our students skills that will help them as they go through the journey of life.

5th and 6th graders are welcome to join band. It is an opportunity to learn something new and fun! We learn how to play the instruments, read musical notation, and how to care for the instrument. Playing in band develops self-confidence, responsibility, and requires the students to work cooperatively as a team. We give concerts during the school year and also play at flag raising assemblies. I hope to see you in band!

My Education and Professional Background

Bachelor degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Michigan Masters degree in Saxophone Performance from Arizona State University

My Educational Philosophy

All children should have the opportunity to learn about music and how to play an instrument. Music forces the brain to work in full capacity. Music speaks beyond the spoken word, and across cultures. We must keep music in our schools so culture is not lost. No matter what your skill level is, I would like to help you learn.

Welcome!

Hello my name is Carlie Ramirez and I am a full time Resource teacher here at CTA Liberty. I work with Kindergarten through 6th grade in reading, writing, math , and behaviors.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated with my Masters Degree from ASU in 2013, majoring in elementary (1-6) and special education (k-12). I have been working as a resource teacher at Washington School District for a few years. I recently moved to Chandler and will be working in the Chandler District starting 2016-2017 school year.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment: the teacher acting as a guide, allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and promoting respect for all things and all people.

While attending NAU, she was an active member in the NAU Symphonic and Chamber Orchestras. Miss Lawlor also participated in the Suzuki training program at NAU. In her youth, she was a member of many orchestral groups including, the Arizona Youth Symphony, the East Valley Youth Symphony, and the Mesa Community College Community Orchestra. She also studied piano for 13 years under the instruction of Franchesa Retford. Before attending NAU, she was an assistant Suzuki strings instructor with Kevin Huang, a professional violinist from Julliard, and she volunteered at Blackbird Music Studio teaching a Suzuki violin class on Saturday mornings. Before joining the Chandler School District, Miss Lawlor was an orchestra director at Queen Creek Middle School and Gateway Preparatory Academy. She currently runs a private studio after school.

My Educational Philosophy

Music is an academic discipline. It incorporates aspects of math, language, history, reading, and science. It exercises the entire human brain with lessons in technique, rhythm, vocabulary, and notes reading. Students who participate in musical instruction benefit across all academic subjects. I believe every student can learn to appreciate music. Music transcends all other forms of communication. Student participation in orchestral groups encourages an environment of teamwork and self-discipline. It is exciting to watch students of varying abilities come together to achieve a common musical goal. It is my job to help students discover their individual musical potential and to help them develop a lifelong appreciation for this dynamic art.

Welcome!

I am excited to be the band teacher at CTA Liberty! I started playing trombone in 5th grade and never stopped. Playing music has taken me all over the country and beyond – I’ve performed in 25 states and 5 other countries. I look forward to sharing my experience and helping the 5th and 6th grade band students begin their own musical adventure.

My Education and Professional Background

  • Bachelor of Music in Music Education, West Virginia University
  • Master of Music in Trombone Performance, University of North Texas
  • Doctor of Musical Arts in Trombone Performance, Arizona State University
I have been teaching music in CUSD since 2006 and became an elementary band director in the fall of 2018. I am also an adjunct music instructor at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and previously taught in the summers at the North Carolina Governor's School. I am active as a professional musician, regularly playing with top classical, jazz, musical theatre, rock, and Latin music groups throughout the valley and the state.

My Educational Philosophy

I want every student to participate in music! Performing not only increases students’ knowledge, appreciation, and interest in music, but also enhances students’ confidence in their abilities to learn and express themselves.

My Educational Philosophy

I am a staunch believer that all students can learn regardless of their individual differences. As an educator I have to take responsibility and challenge all students to reach higher levels of achievement. In order to meet this goal, we have to keep in mind the needs of the whole child and develop them socially, emotionally and physically as well as embrace their cultural background.
