My Education and Professional Background

In May 2007, I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Elementary Education and a content emphasis in Early Childhood Education. I completed my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix in February 2010. In order to achieve these goals, I will have our class help contribute and create our classroom expectations and rules. I come from a family of educators and have grown up watching my family members, especially my mother, positively influence the lives of hundreds of children. My goal is to create a community of lifelong learners who will always value the importance of education. Welcome!

Hello and welcome to 5th Grade! I am looking forward to an exciting new year as your child's teacher!

My Education and Professional Background

I received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University in December of 2009. In late February 2010, I began a long-term substitute position in second grade at CTA-Liberty, which eventually sparked an opportunity to join the Liberty family! I attended Catholic schools in Chandler for both my elementary and high school careers, so I can appreciate the effects of the traditional approach to instruction. I am a Spalding Certified Teacher and am continuing my Spalding professional development in hopes of becoming a Certified Instructor.

My Educational Philosophy

In my philosophy of education, I believe that teaching plays a significant role in the development of a child's social, emotional, and intellectual skills. Education is the foundation of life in this ever-changing society. As teachers, we foster students to succeed and become well-rounded citizens, eventually allowing them to reach their utmost potential. I believe in being compassionate, understanding, and willing to adapt to students' needs as an individual. Educating is more than instructing - it is rewarding!

Welcome!

Welcome to Second Grade! My name is Valerie Willis and I began teaching at CTA-Liberty in 2008. I'm looking forward to another great year learning and growing with my third graders! My husband and I moved to Arizona from northern Michigan in 2007. We have three children that all attend school within CUSD. When I'm not at school I like to watch my kids play sports and spend time at home barbecuing and relaxing!!

My Education and Professional Background

I've taught in a variety of classrooms using various curriculum models but the traditional classroom has proven to me, as both an educator and a parent, the most beneficial to students. I love the structure of a traditional classroom because it allows students clear expectations of what they need to achieve and how to achieve it.The bar is set high and through hard work and productive struggle students leave our school with the tools to be successful.

My Educational Philosophy

I've always been a child advocate and believe that each child possesses strong leadership qualities that may yet be discovered. It's been my honor to help students acquire new knowledge, confirm their positive attributes and take them from the unknown to the known.

Welcome!

Welcome to CTA Liberty! Wisconsin is were I was born and raised. After college, I began my teaching career in Texas, where I lived for 10 years. My husband and I moved to Arizona in 2000, and we have enjoyed raising our 2 children in Gilbert. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends. Teaching students about how technology can enhance their learning is a passion of mine.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin in 1991. My teaching career began in Houston, Texas. After teaching kindergarten and first grade for 7+ years in Texas, I moved to sunny Arizona with my husband and found joy in raising my children. I could not stay away from teaching for very long. When a position opened up at CTA Liberty in 2007, I decided it was the perfect opportunity for me to share my love for teaching once again.

My Educational Philosophy

Teaching is my passion, and I hope to instill a love for learning in each and every child. Each and every child should be given the opportunity to reach their true potential. Children should not be questioned IF they can reach their goals, but instead HOW they WILL reach their goals. My job as a teacher is to help guide students to think critically and to explain their thinking in order to expand on their connections and knowledge.

Welcome!

Welcome to sixth grade! I'm excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I'm looking forward to a wonderful and productive school year. I love teaching here at CTA Liberty and have been part of the Liberty Eagle family since 2006. Besides being a teacher, I love sporting events (especially our AZ Teams: Go DBacks, Cardinals, and Mercury) and going to the movies. Once again, welcome to sixth grade. Let's work together to make this the best year ever!

My Education and Professional Background

I currently hold a Master's in Elementary Education, which I received from Northern Arizona University. My teaching certification credential was obtained from Arizona State University. Prior to teaching, I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Administration from Fresno State University. As I continue to pursue teaching with passion and dedication, I'm continually looking for ways to educate myself and grow professionally as an educator in order to give the best possible education to my students.

My Educational Philosophy

Education is a door of opportunity for each and every child to learn, grow, and strive to "individually" be the best they can be! The classroom is a secure, nurturing, and caring place where learning and growth occurs. It is an equitable atmosphere where each child is challenged, encouraged, and inspired emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Every year I acknowledge and respect the fact that my classroom is filled with unique individuals who vary in talents, abilities, and interests. Thus, as an educator, I strive to provide each child with the opportunities, experiences, and tools necessary to be successful at their current educational level, be prepared for the next educational level, and ultimately reach their fullest potential in all they strive to be and do. This motivates me on a daily basis to be dedicated to giving my personal best to each and every child, knowing that what they experience yearly in my classroom is just one step in the lifelong learning process.

Welcome!

Dear Parents, Welcome to 3rd grade. I am excited to welcome new students to the classroom. My name is Stephanie Battani and I was born in Des Moines, Iowa. I moved to Chandler in 1996. I have taught at the elementary and junior high levels and am excited to be teaching 3rd grade. Parents are an essential part of the educational process at our school and it is important to maintain open communication throughout the year.

My Education and Professional Background

I am a 1996 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where I majored in Elementary Education and Spanish. In 2001 I graduated with a Masters in curriculum and instruction. I completed my Administrative Certification Coursework in December of 2008. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and Spanish, M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, Administrative Certification.

My Educational Philosophy

My personal goal for my future classroom is to challenge students and watch them grow to their full potential. I want to take students at different levels and see them develop together for the betterment of each individual. Therefore, group work is the key to having a successful class and is something I value, especially with older students. The impact of group work, when students help fellow students, changes each person and transforms the atmosphere of the class as a whole.

Welcome!

Since opening the school back in 2002, I have always enjoyed working with the students here at Liberty, and I look forward to working with your children again this year in PE! We will try new things. We will work hard. We will do our best. We will have FUN!

My Education and Professional Background

Before working towards my Principal Certification, I earned a M.Ed. in Leadership and a second M.Ed. in Human relations from NAU. Before that, ‘back in the day,’ I earned a BA in Secondary Education, Physical Education from ASU. I have also enjoyed serving the community in various venues including serving on the AzAHPERD board (Arizona Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance) from 2005 through 2010.

My Educational Philosophy

The PE curriculum used in Chandler, "Dynamic Physical Education," focuses on "fitness for life.” In the program, children are exposed to a wide variety of activities (and no, Dodge ball isn’t one of them). :o) The program is process oriented rather than product oriented to encourage active participation of all students. PE is taught in a positive environment where all children have the opportunity to experience success and gain skills helping them maintain an active lifestyle in the future. As in a regular classroom at Liberty, expectations are high as there are educational and curricular content and standards to be covered. All students will be expected to participate to the best of their abilities and respect is a must. With everyone respectful and working hard, though we may not get to do everyone’s favorite sport, we will do many sport related skills and activities for everyone …while having a lot of fun doing them!

Developing musical literacy, songs and singing games from various cultures, listening activities, movement activities, playing instruments, performance opportunities, as well as attending performances are all part of the Arizona Standards for Music and will be experienced in the classroom through general music and choir. Welcome!

Welcome to Chandler Traditional Academy, Liberty Campus, Home of the Eagles, a Spalding Accredited School, and a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School! We are pleased to offer our students and families the Spalding Language Arts program and the Saxon Math program where we accelerate students at a year above grade level. A Spanish Dual Language Immersion program will begin at first grade in 2015-16 and expand to kindergarten and subsequent grade levels in 2016-17.

My Education and Professional Background

Education has been one of the greatest ventures of my life. From the time I was a child, I wanted to be a teacher, and thus, learning and teaching has been an important part of who I am and what I do. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education from DePaul University in Chicago and my Master’s in Counseling and Doctorate in Education from Arizona State University. I have taught elementary-aged children and university students and have been a principal during the past 30 plus years. My favorite thing to do is to work with my teachers to help our kids learn as much as they can during their time with us. I am so fortunate to be surrounded by such gifted and dedicated teachers who show me what fantastic teaching and engaged learning is all about. I also love getting to know our Liberty children and their families. My CTA-Liberty family is large and wonderful, comprised of all our amazing students, their families, our teachers, and our support staff.

My Educational Philosophy

Education is all about learning, and learning happens each and every day of our lives. Here at CTA-Liberty, we strive to enable our kids to be contributing, knowledgeable, and reflective citizens who demonstrate a can-do attitude toward problem-solving, a growth mindset, and a tested work ethic. As parents and teachers, we support our children in taking on the challenges of the 21st Century as they assume greater participation in the democracy of our great country, the United States of America.

Welcome!

My name is Sonita Zaire. I have been a Chandler USD Speech/Language Therapist since 2006. Before that I was a Speech Therapist in New Jersey.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my undergraduate degree in Communication disorders (Speech Pathology) from William Patterson University. I received my Master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction from University of Phoenix. I have completed my Doctoral program in Educational Leadership from Argosy University and currently working on my dissertation focusing on “The relationship between teacher preparation and student achievement in Arizona public schools”. I am certified and licensed through the state of Arizona.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe the study of communication, is practiced and applied by our students and ourselves on a daily basis. As a result, we teach by what we do in the classroom as much as by what we say. By modeling good communication for our students, within the subject matter we also teach with enthusiasm. I strongly value the diversity of learning styles as well as the unique perspectives that my students may bring to the therapy room and their classroom.

5th and 6th graders are welcome to join band. It is an opportunity to learn something new and fun! We learn how to play the instruments, read musical notation, and how to care for the instrument. Playing in band develops self-confidence, responsibility, and requires the students to work cooperatively as a team. We give concerts during the school year and also play at flag raising assemblies. I hope to see you in band!

My Education and Professional Background

Bachelor degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Michigan Masters degree in Saxophone Performance from Arizona State University

My Educational Philosophy

All children should have the opportunity to learn about music and how to play an instrument. Music forces the brain to work in full capacity. Music speaks beyond the spoken word, and across cultures. We must keep music in our schools so culture is not lost. No matter what your skill level is, I would like to help you learn.

Hello my name is Carlie Ramirez and I am a full time Resource teacher here at CTA Liberty. I work with Kindergarten through 6th grade in reading, writing, math , and behaviors.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated with my Masters Degree from ASU in 2013, majoring in elementary (1-6) and special education (k-12). I have been working as a resource teacher at Washington School District for a few years. I recently moved to Chandler and will be working in the Chandler District starting 2016-2017 school year.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment: the teacher acting as a guide, allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and promoting respect for all things and all people.
