Welcome!

Welcome to 1st grade! My name is Alison Marsh. I grew up in Tempe and currently live in Chandler with my husband and two children: Connor (7) and Juliette (5). Our family enjoys swimming, hiking, playing with our dogs and vacationing.

My Education and Professional Background

My early experience working with school-aged children at an after-school program led me to pursue a degree in education. I graduated from Arizona State University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught for ten years in the Kyrene School District and in 2018 took a break to care for my children. During my time at Kyrene de la Colina I taught K, 1st and 2nd grade. I enjoy planning engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners. Over the summer I took a Spalding course. I am confident in implementing The Spalding Method along with Daily 5, Thinking Maps, educational games and technology throughout the learning day.

My Educational Philosophy

My teaching philosophy starts with connecting with students and their families. The goal is to work as a team so each child can be successful and reach their full potential. I use Love and Logic in my classroom. The process of empathizing with students and giving them the tools to solve their own problems creates a healthy classroom community. I am looking forward to starting my first year at CTA Liberty and getting to know you and your child as we work together to help them reach their full potential!

My professional career began in 1993 when I accepted my first teaching position in the Chandler Unified School District. I believe that each student is a unique individual that possess a variety of gifts. We must identify those gifts and help them pursue their gifts to become successful students. My mission is to teach our students to make positive choices, display good character, and learn to treat others the way they would like to be treated. I believe opportunities for 'teachable moments' arise throughout our day and we must use them to teach our students skills that will help them as they go through the journey of life.

My Education and Professional Background

My Educational Philosophy

In our classroom, I feel it is important for each child to know what is expected and to be held responsible for their choices. In order to achieve these goals, I will have our class help contribute and create our classroom expectations and rules. I feel discipline is preventive in nature and when students know what is expected of them, the consequences of their choices and positive reinforcement is provided for appropriate behavior, every child can and will be successful. I want all my students to learn in a safe, comfortable learning environment where everyone tries their best and feels like an important part of our classroom community.

My Educational Philosophy

The reason I chose to become a teacher is because education has always been an important part of my life. I come from a family of educators and have grown up watching my family members, especially my mother, positively influence the lives of hundreds of children. I knew from the moment I set foot into my mother’s classroom that I would devote my life to children. My goal is to create a community of lifelong learners who will always value the importance of education. I am excited to be a part of our new Spanish Dual Language Immersion program here at Liberty as well! I love to teach literacy and am thrilled to be able to teach the English Language Arts to 60 first graders!

Besides teaching, I enjoy traveling in my RV, watching movies, and I am a college and pro sports fanatic! "Go Blue!" and "Go DBacks, Cardinals, Suns and Mercury!" Once again, welcome to sixth grade. Let's work together to make this the best year ever!

My Education and Professional Background

My years in the classroom (both as a student and teacher) provide a strong foundation of knowledge and real world experiences. I hold a Master's in Elementary Education, which I received from Northern Arizona University. My teaching certification credential and mathematics endorsement was obtained by completing course work at Arizona State University. Prior to teaching, I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Administration from Fresno State University. As I continue to pursue teaching with passion and dedication, I'm continually looking for ways to educate myself and grow professionally as an educator in order to give the best possible education to my students.

My Educational Philosophy

Education is a door of opportunity for each and every child to learn, grow, and strive to "individually" be the best they can be! The classroom is a secure, nurturing, and caring place where learning and growth occurs. It is an equitable atmosphere where each child is challenged, encouraged, and inspired emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Every year I acknowledge and respect the fact that my classroom is filled with unique individuals who vary in talents, abilities, and interests. Thus, as an educator, I strive to provide each child with the opportunities, experiences, and tools necessary to be successful at their current educational level, be prepared for the next educational level, and ultimately reach their fullest potential in all they strive to be and do. This motivates me on a daily basis to be dedicated to giving my personal best to each and every child, knowing that what they experience yearly in my classroom is just one step in the lifelong learning process.

Since opening the school back in 2002, I have always enjoyed working with the students here at Liberty, and I look forward to working with your children again this year in PE! We will try new things. We will work hard. We will do our best. We will have FUN!

My Education and Professional Background

My Educational Philosophy

The PE curriculum used in Chandler, "Dynamic Physical Education," focuses on "fitness for life.” In the program, children are exposed to a wide variety of activities (and no, Dodge ball isn’t one of them). :o) The program is process oriented rather than product oriented to encourage active participation of all students. PE is taught in a positive environment where all children have the opportunity to experience success and gain skills helping them maintain an active lifestyle in the future. As in a regular classroom at Liberty, expectations are high as there are educational and curricular content and standards to be covered. All students will be expected to participate to the best of their abilities and respect is a must. With everyone respectful and working hard, though we may not get to do everyone’s favorite sport, we will do many sport related skills and activities for everyone …while having a lot of fun doing them!

Hello my name is Carlie Ramirez and I am a full time Resource teacher here at CTA Liberty. I work with Kindergarten through 6th grade in reading, writing, math , and behaviors.

My Education and Professional Background

My Educational Philosophy

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment: the teacher acting as a guide, allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and promoting respect for all things and all people.

My Educational Philosophy

I believe all children want learn! As a community, our job is to help children become life long learners. As a school, our job is to create an environment where students feel comfortable to challenge themselves and learn from their successes and mistakes. As a teacher, I need to foster collaboration, critical thinking and communication, along with instilling 21st century skills. I will set high expectations for my students and support and guide them towards success. We all have to work together so each child may work towards his or her full potential.

Welcome to Second Grade! I look forward to working with you this year.

My Education and Professional Background

I come from a long line of educators, including my grandparents and several aunts and uncles. However, I started my professional career as an account manager in several advertising agencies after I graduated from the University of Richmond, in Virginia. But my love of education was never far from my mind. When my family moved to Florida, I earned my teaching certificate. I taught 2 years in a private school, and 9 years in public schools. I have worked with a variety of students, from special needs to at-risk students, as well as traditional style classrooms.
