Sacco...
Hello, Patterson Pride! My name is Elizabeth Sacco and I'm looking forward to being your Assistant Principal.
My Education and Professional Background
I taught elementary and middle school for ten years in the Bordentown, Glendale, and Chandler school districts and was Dean of Students for one year. I graduated from Kean University where I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary/Middle School Education (K-8). I also earned my master's degree in Reading and Literacy (K-8) from Walden University and hold a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe in the education of the whole child because when students' social-emotional needs are met, the academics follow. The goal of every school should be to support children, meet their needs, and ignite a passion for learning and exploration. Through discovery of their interests, abilities, and learning styles, students will feel successful and excel cognitively and social-emotionally. Every child should feel valued and connected to the school through meaningful relationships to both faculty and other students. My mission as Assistant Principal is to support the staff, students, and families while providing a positive learning environment for all learners to grow and develop. I believe if we have students' interests in mind, we win 100% of the time!

Ackerman...
Hello! Please allow me to introduce myself. I was raised in a teaching family in my native state of Washington. In 1987 I graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance. I was a professional flutist for several years while I began raising a family. Since that time, I have mothered four permanent and sixteen foster children.
My Education and Professional Background
Throughout the years I spent countless hours in schools as a volunteer, aide, and substitute teacher before I became a teacher in 2009. I worked with the emotionally disabled children for several years at Patterson before becoming a 1st-grade CTA teacher here. I transitioned to Classic Kindergarten in 2021. I have extensive experience with children who have special needs. My children have experienced physical disabilities (arthritis, dwarfism, heart problems), learning disabilities (brain injury), visual impairment (cortical blindness), mental illness, health impairments, and emotional disabilities. I am comfortable with medical issues because of years of living in and out of hospitals. I have also had the challenging privilege of raising an accelerated learner.
My Educational Philosophy
I regard each child as an individual with different interests and abilities. My favorite thing to do is to figure out what makes a child tick and then see how far they can go with help.

Chase...
I grew up on a farm in Iowa where we had pigs, horses, goats, chickens, cows, cats, dogs, and turkeys at one time or another. I learned to drive on a tractor and was a pro at pulling the manure spreader. Sometimes I miss the smell of hay, but I sure don't miss the smell of the hog house! My husband, Mike, works for a finance company as well as the NFL. Tyler graduated from ASU and is now teaching Algebra & Geometry at Casteel High School. Ethan is attending ASU where he is studying social work.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my BA from the University of Northern Iowa in 1990 and moved to Arizona in July of that same year. I began my teaching career at Toltec Elementary (near Casa Grande) where I taught 3rd grade until 1998. I moved to Chandler and taught 1st grade for a year at Shumway, then moved to 5th grade in 1999. I earned my MA from Northern Arizona University in 2001. I joined the Patterson Pride in the fall of 2013.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that every child is able to grow and experience success, whether it be intellectually, socially, and/or emotionally. In order for growth and success to happen, the environment surrounding that student must feel safe and support risk-taking along with sharing of ideas. That means my role is to be a guide, allow curiosity to direct learning, and promote respect for others.

Chavez...
Welcome to First Grade! My name is Dianna Chavez & I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year. This will be my 11th year at Patterson & I feel very blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community of teachers, parents, and students. I look forward to learning & growing with your child throughout the year.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from ASU in 1998 with a degree in Elementary Education with an ELL Endorsement. I started teaching right after I graduated in Mesa Public Schools where I taught First Grade for 4 years, and Second grade for one year. I continued working in Mesa Public Schools until I had my youngest son, Aidan in 2003 & then became a stay-at-home mom for 6 years. I slowly went back into teaching by teaching preschool at Lil Einsteins in Gilbert for 5 years. It was there that I met a wonderful friend that suggested I come to Patterson for an interview to teach first grade, and here I am...11 years later and feel so blessed to be part of such a wonderful community.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe each child is unique & special in their own way. In believing that, I also feel as a teacher, I need to always look for a variety of teaching methods so each child's needs can be met. I want all my students to feel successful & celebrate their learning each day. I want to instill a sense of community in our classroom so each child knows they are a part of something very important. I want them to feel comfortable participating in class and I want them to know they can walk into our classroom each day and feel comfortable being themselves. In developing that sense of community I also feel parental involvement is extremely important during the school year, and I look forward to working with all of you to help your child be successful in first grade!

Cosper...
Welcome to Mr. Cosper's 3rd grade class. I am excited to get the year started and get these kids to where they need to be by the end of the year. We have a long way to go and I can't wait to see what these kids can do.
My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Gilbert High School in 2001. I attended Ottawa University and graduated with my degree in Elementary Education in 2005 as well as my masters in Educational Leadership in 2009. I taught one brave year of kindergarten in 2005-2006 in the Florence District. From there I went onto work for the Queen Creek District where I taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade in over eight years of service. I have been here at Patterson since 2014 where I have spent the entire time teaching 3rd grade.
My Educational Philosophy
Education to me is very important for every student no matter who they are or where they come from. It is necessary for students to work their hardest, try their best, and make mistakes so that they can grow and reach their highest potential. School is just one form of education for a child. I believe that extracurricular activities, whether they are physical or mental, play a huge role in the outcome of a child's academics and success.

Welcome to third grade! It is a year full of responsibilities and a lot of fun. I am looking forward to a great and exciting year.
My Education and Professional Background
This is my 25th year teaching, 23 in the Chandler District, and my fourth year at Patterson. I have taught kindergarten, first, second, and 5th grade. This will be my fourth year teaching 3rd grade. I graduated from NAU in 1991 with a degree in elementary education. In 1996 I went back and got my masters in Educational Leadership at NAU, but decided I loved the classroom too much to leave.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as a educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment, (1) the teacher acting as a guide, (2) allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and (3) promoting respect for all things and all people.

In 2001, I graduated from Ottawa University with a degree in elementary education. I received my master’s degree from NAU in 2004. I began my teaching career in the Queen Creek School District. During my time in Queen Creek, I worked for 13 years as a fourth grade teacher prior to joining the Patterson staff. While at Patterson, I taught 5th grade classic for five years. This year will be my second year teaching CTA at Patterson and my 20th year in education.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe students are limited only by the expectations we provide them with. I believe students will arrive and achieve what we as teachers and parents expect from them no matter how lofty they appear on the onset.

Welcome to 6th grade! I'm looking forward to the new school year and working with your child this year. Many exciting learning experiences await your sixth grader!
My Education and Professional Background

Smith...
Welcome to CTA 6th grade at Patterson! I am excited for another year with a great group of students. I live in Gilbert with my husband, Travis, and two spoiled dogs, Walter and Ozzy. My stepson, Austin, is currently serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, and my stepdaughter, Kallie, attends Northern Arizona University. Outside of the classroom I love reading, decorating, motorcycle rides, and spending time with family and friends. I am also a volunteer reader for Sun Sounds of Arizona.
My Education and Professional Background
I received my bachelor degree in 1999 from ASU, and upon graduating I went to work for the Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Department, supervising kids in the detention center. Most of the youth I worked with hadn't been to school in years, and many couldn't read. A belief in the power of education, and a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of children led me to this career change. I earned my teacher certification and began teaching in CUSD in 2006, and finished my Master of Education degree at ASU in 2008. I am also a certified Write from the Beginning and Thinking Maps trainer.
My Educational Philosophy
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

My Education and Professional Background
I graduated from Arizona State University in 2005 and am a huge Sun Devils fan! I have been teaching 5th grade since 2009 and I have been at Patterson Elementary since 2012. I have previously taught in a traditional 3rd grade classroom for 5 years and am excited to teach 4th grade in a traditional classroom.
My Educational Philosophy
All students are able to learn and thrive within the classroom and community. It is my responsibility to get each student to their potential by being a student, teacher, and thinker. Every student has the ability to learn from one another within the classroom, and through extracurricular activities, and it is my desire for all students to feel welcome, comfortable, and critical thinkers within the classroom.

Welcome to Patterson’s music program! Thank you for visiting my webpage.
My Education and Professional Background
I was so inspired by my own experience with music that I wanted to share it with others. I studied Music Education at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. I graduated in1998 with a Bachelor degree in Music Education. I started my teaching career in Indiana for four years and then moved to Arizona. I have taught all ages from K-12 throughout my career, but my heart belongs at the elementary level. I love starting students on their musical journey! We are able to experience music in so many ways! While I've taken many graduate courses to continue my learning, I've found one type of class that really enhances my teaching. The Orff Process, which is a method of teaching music to children, has transformed my classroom. By using the Orff Process, students can immediately take part in music activities by moving creatively, playing instruments, and singing. Every child is able to experience the joy of music right away!
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that every child is capable of singing and enjoying music. I believe every child can read, sing, play, move and create music. We start at a simple level by exploring all kinds of musical experiences and build our way to reading, writing and creating music. We can easily add in creative and choreographed movement and instruments. Music is a natural and vital part of our human experience. It feeds the soul and allows us to see and feel more of the beauty in the world. Beyond music's inherent points, it is all around us in our lives. We are surrounded by it in our TV shows, movies, ipods, holidays, classrooms, and more. Studying some of the patterns and building blocks of music allows us to appreciate the music around us in a deeper way. Enjoy the music around you!
