•  GRIT Academy

    Student Identification

Students are identified for the GRIT Academy using the following criteria:

    - Currently live within Bogle School Boundaries and have Bogle listed as their next school.

    - Currently participate in a CUSD CATS program at their elementary school AND/OR

    - Score Highly Proficient in BOTH Math and English Language Arts portions of their 5th grade AZ Merit assessment

    - 6th Grade Teacher recommendation and input for various Academic Behaviors

If a student does live in BJHS  boundaries but does not currently attend a CUSD Elementary School, the student would need to register as a student for next school year. Once the student is registered, we would then look at available information for the student including previous COGAT or Gifted scores, AZMerit scores and would request a teacher recommendation and input form be completed by current teachers. Placement into the GRIT Academy is not guaranteed.

Students that do not live in our boundaries would need to complete an open enrollment application with the District (available beginning January 11th). Approved open enrollment does not guarantee placement in the GRIT Academy. Once approved for Open enrollment through the district, we would then look at available information for the student including previous COGAT or Gifted scores, AZMerit scores and would request a teacher recommendation and input form be completed by current teachers.

Confirmation for acceptance into the GRIT academy would not occur until these processes are completed. We do not require any testing as part of our process.
