    Welcome!

    Welcome! My name is Deanna Maxwell and this year I will be your student's 8th grade Honors English Language Arts, Writer's Workshop, or AVID teacher here at Bogle Junior High. I'm excited to work with you and your student this year. Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time in nature, spending time with family and friends, dabbling in music, and furthering my own writing career.

    My Education and Professional Background

    I obtained my Bachelors of Science in secondary education English at Northern Arizona University with certificates in creative writing and literature. I've had experience with 9th grade English, 12th grade AP English, and have peer instructed for freshman college composition classes. I have been at Bogle since 2017 and I love teaching!

    My Educational Philosophy

    I believe that students learn best when they ask authentic questions and interpret classroom content to create their own perspectives. Students also learn best when they can relate classroom activities to their everyday life. Maintaining a respectful classroom environment is essential in the learning process. Students learn best when they know the “why” behind the learning and read content in a meaningful way. It is important to me that I create a setting that is comfortable and open for students to learn in. I want students to take charge and responsibility of their own education. All students deserve equal opportunities and I plan to give them that in my classroom.
