Dear Riggs Families,
I hope this letter finds you all well and enjoying the summer! I have officially moved into the office and have been very busy meeting with all the staff members and the PTO. The staff speaks so highly of the relationships they have formed with families and the community. I feel very blessed to become part of this partnership and promise to do my very best every day! I know there are a lot of questions regarding school opening and what it may look like. The district is working diligently on getting feedback from every stakeholder and are making draft plans for the Re-Opening of School. I will communicate more once a plan has been adopted.
Hopes & Dreams
I had the opportunity to meet with all the Riggs staff members and discussed their hopes, dreams, and fears as we move into the 2020-2021 school year and beyond. Their love and care for our students and one another is inspiring. I value your partnership and would also like to hear from you regarding your hopes and dreams. Our front office is currently closed for summer break. We will reopen on Wednesday, July 8th and resume our normal office hours of 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday). Feel free to email me directly with questions at firstname.lastname@example.org I will be checking my email even when the office is closed.
Reopening of Riggs
CUSD has created a task force to assess our readiness and develop options to reopen our schools. Thank you to those who submitted feedback and/or completed the parent survey. The district aims to communicate the final plan regarding the reopening of school in June. There will be a board meeting on June 24th and we hope to disseminate information after that meeting.
The Riggs staff have worked diligently to create balanced classrooms for the 2020-2021 school year. We look at the academic, social, and emotional needs of each child when making class placements. Please understand that students will not be switched into another classroom, unless there is a need to increase/decrease the number of teachers at that grade level due to state/district budget constraints related to fluctuating enrollment. If this occurs, I will follow district procedures to move students into new classrooms.
Your child’s placement will go out in the mail on July 16th. We have attached school supply lists for each grade level for your convenience.
Meet the Teacher/Curriculum Night
We have reserved Monday July 20th and Tuesday July 21st for Meet the teacher and Curriculum nights. A schedule will follow in a future letter. As of right now we are not sure if that event will be in person or done virtually but wanted you to be able to mark your calendars.
