    Welcome to Special Education Resource! Here you’ll find a safe environment where kids are supported in learning, encouraged to grow in development, accepted regardless of any challenge, and valued for who they are as little people. It is here that we celebrate not only academic progress, but also everything the kids are learning to do and be. There will always be someone in their corner!

    My Education and Professional Background

    Along with a degree in Education, my professional work with children and families spans 35 years.  Throughout this time, I have worked in diverse social service and educational settings and have vast experience with individuals of all abilities, including those with intellectual, physical, emotional, and medical needs.  My journey with CUSD began in 2004, and I am so happy to have made my way to Riggs Elementary.  Go Roadrunners!

    My Educational Philosophy

    Children thrive in environments where they feel safe, respected, and are known and understood. They rely on trusted adults to provide this space and set clear and reasonable expectations for learning and behavior, as well as facilitating and guiding opportunities for social and emotional growth. It is vital to believe in children exactly where they are as individuals, not where we think they should be. My hope is that the students who visit here gather tools for learning and life, construct meaning and become engaged participants in what and how they learn, and develop a desire to learn more.
