Welcome to Mrs. Gritz's 5th Grade website! I was born and raised in upstate New York, and my family and I moved to Arizona in 2004. I got married in December 2014 to my husband Brandon, who is also a teacher. We enjoy watching movies and traveling!
My Education and Professional Background
From Arizona State University, I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2010 and my Master's Degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education in 2011. I also have an English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement as well as am Highly Certified in Middle Grades Mathematics. I have worked at Hancock Elementary since 2013, and was employed at Arizona State University for 3 years prior to that. I am very happy to be at Hancock Elementary, and I love teaching 5th grade!
My Educational Philosophy
Students in 5th grade should be looking ahead to junior high. Now is the time to hone in on developing organizational skills and study habits that will assist them in taking ownership over their education. Gaining these skills in elementary school will prove to be beneficial in their future education and beyond.
