Welcome! My name is Wendy Dafoe and this is my thirtenth year as a teacher here at Riggs. I had taught first grade for 8 years in Michigan, before taking time off to raise my family. I worked with the Riggs first grade team my first year in Arizona as a para pro and realized how much I wanted to return to teaching. I have taught half-day Kindergarten and the English Language Development (ELD) class. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of the Riggs Elementary team once again!
I have 3 children of whom one attends Casteel (Junior), one NAU Honors College (Sophomore) and one ASU W.P. Carey School of Business (Junior). My family and I moved to Arizona in early 2007 within Seville. We love the sunshine and the fact that we can be outdoors year-round. We have had the opportunity to experience many things for the first time, including trips to Mexico, Hawaii, Nevada, and California. We look forward to making our way to all new and exciting destinations in this part of the country.
As a teacher, my goal is to make certain that each student learns to the maximum of their ability. In teaching, I want create a fun, nurturing atmosphere where the children enjoy learning. I live for the “aha!” moments when everything falls into place and the children grasp the concept I am teaching to them. The excitement and pride on their faces is priceless! It is a privilege to watch them grow and learn!
Please feel free to ask questions about your child’s progress and the concepts we are learning in the classroom. Children learn best when teachers and parents work together.
