     Dear Parents,

     
    I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have been teaching for over 30 years in the Chandler School district.  I have taught 1st grade at San Marcos Elementary, and Kindergarten at Jacobson and Tarwater. As you can tell from my past experience, I really enjoy getting students off to a great start in school.  I also have a strong passion for teaching children how to read, and I love the challenge of each and every new year!

    I have my Bachelors in Business Administration and Spanish from Minnestoa State University, Mankato, and my Post Baccalaureate Degree from ASU in Elem. Ed. I also have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from NAU plus have completed several university hours and district classes in the area of Second Language Learners. Teachers are required to have at least 180 hours every six years so as you can see, we never stop learning.  I love to travel, studied abroad in Valencia, Spain and enjoy studying languages and culture.  The DLI program is a perfect fit for my background. I am so proud of our school district and Tarwater for offering second languages to our youngest students.

    I am a very proud Mom of two!  My son graduated from Villanova in Philadelphia, where he played baseball and went on to play two seasons of professional ball.  My daughter graduated from Boston College and completed grad school at Thomas Jefferson in Philadelphia. We now have a Dr. Jones in the family.  Seems just like yesterday they were taking their 1st steps into their Kindergarten classrooms. Both of my children attended Tarwater and received a very strong educational foundation. Tarwater really is the best school in Chandler!  My husband, Dave, and I are happily married, and he works as a Financial Advisor.   

    I love teaching and especially love the challenges and unending joys of teaching the Kindergarten age group.  I am looking forward to working with you and know that we will create a very memorable Kindergarten year!
