About Ms. Clare Dunnahoo...
Position: 6th Grade Teacher
Welcome to our 2023-2024 school year!! I’m beyond excited for what this year will bring and I can’t wait to have all of you in my classroom!
My Education and Professional Background
I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental & Sustainability Studies, with an emphasis on Southwest Environments & Biocultural Diversity. Additionally, I have a Political Science minor and a certificate in International Forestry & Conservation. I have spent nearly 5 years working in higher education with a focus on student recruitment and retention; it was during my 5th year I discovered my true passion lies in elementary education!! I began working at CUSD as a Substitute Teacher, with many hours spent right here on Conley’s campus! ;) Fast forward to the present & I am SO excited to be teaching a class of absolutely INCREDIBLE 6th graders this year!!
My Educational Philosophy
In my mind… Ignacio Estrada says it best, "If a child cannot learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." I believe every child has the right to a fair and intentional education, an education that suits their needs and learning style while challenging them to improve both their academic and interpersonal skills. At the end of the day, my ultimate goal is to help my students leave the classroom feeling confident as both a scholar and human being!
