About
Angell...
I am so excited to be a part of the Conley Coyotes family this year. I joined Chandler Unified in 2000 as a classroom teacher. Over the years I have worn many hats and am excited to be serving as your reading specialist. I enjoy traveling, baseball, reading a new book, going to the beach, nerdy stuff, and spending time with my son, Shaun.
My Education and Professional Background
I am an Arizona State University alum (Go Devils!) and completed my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education in 2000. A couple of years later, I returned to ASU to complete my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Bilingual and ESL Education. I carry endorsements in both Early Childhood Education and Structured English Immersion, and have extensive training in the science of teaching reading.
My Educational Philosophy
My philosophy is simply this: treat each child as a whole human being, because they are! Each child has unique social, emotional, mental, and physiological needs and experiences that shape who they are as both people and learners. The more I can do to understand and respect the whole child, the better I can teach, and the safer they feel to learn.
