    The Chandler Unified School District is a premier district of choice, offering some of the top fine and performing arts programs in the state of Arizona. All students have the opportunity to participate in Band and Orchestra upon entering 5th grade. Students in grades kindergarten through 4th grade receive General Music instruction, and in grades 5th and 6th students can choose between General Music, Band or Orchestra.

    Each of Chandler's six high schools provide award-winning instrumental and vocal music programs as well as a wide range of visual arts opportunities. Chandler junior high schools provide elective opportunities with highly qualified instruction in instrumental and vocal music through band, orchestra, jazz band, chorus, visual arts, and many more. In addition, many before and after school clubs at all levels offer a variety of fine and performing arts opportunities..

Our musical was in the top ten for the state for Best Musical, we won for Best Costumes, and Sophia Donnell won Best Lead Female. Sophia will go on to represent Arizona in New York City for the national competition, The Jimmy Awards. She won an all-expense paid trip for a training camp at NYU and then will perform in the same theatre as Lion King.

They were participated in a private clinic with a cast member from Mean Girls (Broadway show) who taught them a dance combo and a Broadway music director who gave Broadway tips and taught harmonies from the show. They performed at Queen's College for an adjudication panel who gave Casteel a 98/100 and said they had "something special." They performed with other top choirs from around US and Canada in a Nationals choir at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Dr. Z Randall Stroope.

He is the number one bass in the state this year. He plans to pursue music in college. Tyler is a hard worker and a gifted teacher. He currently student-teaches the junior high advanced choir, and they respond very well to his leadership, humor, and musical know-how. Tyler has held a leading role in every musical during his 4 years here. He is a gifted actor in our company theatre program and is also is a successful playwright. Tyler served as the Casteel marching band's drum major (conductor) during his sophomore year. He plays several instruments and is an all-around top-notch musician and performer. Additionally, Zachary was one of three drummers nationwide selected to participate in Berkley's College of Music Master Summit where he got to play with Jeff Coffin from the Dave Matthews band and also work with drummer Chester Thompson. Hamilton orchestra students did well overall, with six accepted (Grace Zhang, Zocelyne Kow, Christine Lee, Brandon Tang, Ryan Widjaja and Colin Guan) and one first alternate. These exceptional musicians will participate in the upcoming festival at NAU, April 11-13. This achievement represents the highest honor an Arizona high school musician can earn.
