    SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Mark Self came to Chandler Online Academy to have more time to train in his chosen sport of gymnastics. Mark succeeded with his academics, his athletics and with his career training. He competed in Regionals for his gym as a level 10 gymnast and also earned his Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification while attending the East Valley Institute of Technology. Next year, he will use his CCNA and other Cybersecurity certifications to begin his career in Information Technology. His favorite quote by Juan DeBiedma summarizes his thoughts about this next part of his life: "It's my personal belief that human beings are naturally meant to persevere. No matter what happens, as long as we simply make the decision not to give up, it simply does get better if you believe it will. " Mark has never given up on any dream he has set out to pursue and has found great success. Congratulations Mark! We are grateful to have watched you persevere and rise above all expectations!     SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Alex James Gilchrist is an outstanding student-athlete who consistently strives for athletic and academic excellence and was the recipient of the Big4 Award for Track last year. A true competitor, Alex has proudly defended ACP's Knight honor on the football field, basketball court and track. Despite being diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic the first day of his freshman year and having knee surgery and shoulder injuries, Alex persevered and was one of the starters for ACP's varsity football team every year since its inception in 2017. In addition, Alex was also a true Knight on ACP's varsity track team for four years and on the JV Basketball team for two years. He was a member of the Honor Society and Key Club. Alex's hard work and dedication has resulted in graduating with academic summa cum laude honors and as an AP Scholar with Distinction.     SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Curtis Wilkerson is a pursuer of excellence. He is a scholar, entrepreneur, and a natural born leader. His hard work in academics has earned him several scholarships. He is a proud winner of the four year National Army ROTC scholarship. He also earned the Dean's Award and the ASU Medallion Scholarship. He plans to attend ASU's College of Nursing and serve in the Army Nurse Corps after graduation. She has lettered in varsity soccer for four years, track for two years, and badminton one year. Kylie has helped earned two state championships for the women's soccer team. She will be attending The Master's University in California with academic and soccer scholarships. Kylie will studying kinesiology with emphasis on pre-physical therapy. Kylie will also be playing on their women's soccer team. She has earned three scholarships from The Master's University: Master's Distinguished Award, Founder Donor Grant, and the Kinesiology Center of Excellence Scholarship.     Jackson Kendall
    SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Jackson Kendall is a perceptive, kind, hardworking leader and gentle giant, as well as an entrepreneurial pool builder. At 17, he was busy making his own car payments, paying towards owning his own piece of heavy equipment, and working on a home remodel with his dad in his spare time. Jackson is a true inspiration to fellow students. When Jackson was done with school each day, he went to work digging pools and transporting heavy equipment, sometimes getting home around midnight. Jackson loves football. Even after suffering an injury during his senior year, Jackson was always there to support his teammates and cheer everyone on. Jackson was always checking in on his friends in the special education classroom. He went out of his way to develop bonds with each of these kids and check in with their teachers to see how he could reach out to or help them. Trevor was selected by Perfect Game to the 2020 pre-season all southwest region team and was selected as an Arizona high school baseball week 1 top performer by AZ Central. She is a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship at ASU, and has been accepted into Barrett, the Honors College to pursue a degree in industrial design where she hopes to give flight to her active imagination! A two-time captain of the basketball team, Rekha's love for the game, coupled with her focus and dogged determination, has led to her earning four varsity letters and chalking up the 2019-2020 First Team All Region award, as well as the 2020 Mike Desper Pursuing Victory with Honor award. But that's not all. Rekha is also the founding member and vice president of the Makerspace Club, a member of National Honor Society, ACP Erie InvenTeam and Sustainability Club, three-time Student of the Month and 2018-2019 Social Studies Student of the Year.     SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Tendall Weigand has made the most of her high school experience at Arizona College Prep, boldly embracing every opportunity presented to her.     SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Krista Rowan has excelled both academically and athletically during her four years at ACP. She has received an academic letter all four years and maintained a 4.5 GPA. Krista has been actively involved in several school organizations and is currently president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. During her last two years of high school, she became involved with DECA (formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America) and currently serves as secretary. Krista has loved her time as a student athlete at ACP. She has received athletic honors as a four-year varsity athlete in both indoor and beach volleyball. She was recognized as All Region First Team and All Academic Volleyball Team all four years, as well as Region Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year in 2018.     SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Saar Zutshi is the consummate scholar-athlete with a GPA of 4.4 and the highest number of college football offers in the 3A division in Arizona. He is also the president of the National Honor Society at ACP Erie, a recipient of the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete scholarship as well as the prestigious ACP Football Legacy scholarship. Demonstrating a keen interest and aptitude in economics and business, Saar qualified twice for the highly competitive Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) Nationals. She is a volunteer at Gathering Humanity, an organization that provides refugee relocation assistance. Aslen is also a nationally recognized athlete, and was a member of USA's Team Vanity, a senior level 5 All-Star cheerleading team that was ranked 10th in the world at the 2018 Cheerleading Worlds Finals.     SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Hamilton senior Ryan Castillo is a superior student-athlete in football and wrestling who balances his brains and brawn in the classroom and on the mat. His wrestling accomplishments are as follows: 36-3 record (1 loss at his final weight class, 195 lbs), 3rd place at State 2020. Won the Mile High Challenge, Flowing Wells Invitational, and Sectional Tournament this season. Named AZCentral Scholar Athlete of the Week back in January. Castillo has a 3.9 GPA, 25-2 dual record and 16 pins under his belt this season. Castillo is also a leader in the classroom and plans to major in biology or pre-med at Northern Arizona University.     SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Sam Winegarden has done it all Hamilton. He plays football, is a National Honor Society member, and is a top tier academic student with a 4.18 GPA. Sam had near perfect attendance this past year. On the football team, Sam performed at a high level earning the opportunity to play collegially. He was one of the team captains for varsity football that played in the "Open Division," barely losing in the Semi-finals. Sam will attend the University of Arizona and study engineering.     SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  Isaac Davis is motivated, helpful, and always has a contagious positive vibe. He never accepts shortcuts and is a role model for younger students. He encourages everyone to stay on track in class. In addition to shining in the classroom, Isaac also is a great track athlete. After his relay team won the state championship in track, there was a pep rally to congratulate them on their success.     James Huston
    SENIOR HIGHLIGHT:  James Huston is an active member of the Casteel scholastic and athletic community. For the past three years, he has served on the board of Interact Club (a community service club) and is currently the president. To date, James has logged over 130 hours of community service. He's been responsible for organizing and implementing community service projects both locally and nationally, including our pop-tab drive that helps to support Ronald McDonald House. He's attended Rotary Youth Leadership Awards leadership camp and was most recently accepted to serve as a camp counselor. James is a member of National Honors Society, serving on their board the past two years. He also founded the Sports Debate Club. James is an AP student with a 4.41 GPA and will graduate magna cum laude. He has participated in both basketball and track and was most recently named to the first team of Sports360AZ All-Academic Boy's Basketball Team. James was also a part of our homecoming court. His competitive spirit and commitment to success has allowed him to be a valued member of the Chandler High volleyball team, where he was a strong contributor to the team's success. These characteristics carried over to the classroom, where Trevor made his mark as an academic scholar as well. Trevor is very excited to begin his studies at Benedictine University Mesa in the fall, where he plans to study sports journalism and to play volleyball at the collegiate level.
