Kaitlyn was awarded Outstanding Student of the Year 2018-19 for her commitment to ACP and her classmates. She will graduate this year as a Distinguished Scholar and has earned an Academic Letter all four years for a GPA far above a 4.0. Kaitlyn is the Varsity Soccer Captain and has also earned an Athletic Letter all four years. As a three year varsity starter, Eli has proven to be reliable on and off the field. He has been an anchor in the lineup throughout three region championship seasons and earned a spot on the All-State 2nd team during his senior season. She is an outstanding young lady who excels in both ice hockey and her academics. Going to online school allowed for her to capitalize on the opportunity to attend the North American Hockey Academy in Vermont during each year, while completing her Honors and AP high school courses with outstanding success. In the fall, she will attend St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, as an NCAA Division I ice hockey player. It has been a privilege to watch Kenadie flourish, competing in a sport she has such a passion for. Her ability to focus, train, learn, live away from home and still keep everything organized will be a tremendous asset to her in this next part of her journey. This is the fourth championship in a row and 13th out of the last 14 years for the girls. The boys are eight-time state champions, and have won State three out of the last four years. Kudos to all of the athletes who won their races and events, including QuaRon Adams for running the 9th fastest U.S. all-time 100 meters for a freshman at 10.49 seconds. His time is a top-five all-time in Arizona as well.

He worked very hard in his three seasons to overcome a late start in the sport and qualified for State all three years, including a 5th place at State finish this year. Timothy was selected on to the All CUSD Wrestling 1st team, and earned All State Honorable Mention All Academic Team with a 3.83 GPA. He is going to Grand Canyon University to play baseball and plans to major in sports management. He has played baseball all his life and has many accomplishments on the field such as being named to the All State team as a sophomore. He also loved football and has played on Basha varsity team for three years now. Ty broke the catches record in Basha history and was also named two-way player of the year in its respected region. Not only has he dedicated himself to the sport programs at Basha, but also in the classroom being a true student athlete. Ty has a weighted GPA of 4.12 and unweighted GPA of a perfect 4.0! Kable's scores on double mini have earned him a spot at Junior Olympic Nationals in July.

She competed against the top Junior Olympic level 10 gymnasts from California, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada in her age group. Cienna won the All-Around bronze medal after competing in all four events: Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, and Floor Exercise. Cienna's third place finish earned her a spot to compete at Junior Olympic nationals to be held next month in Indianapolis. The best level 10 gymnasts from across the country qualify to nationals. Congratulations, Cienna!

She currently is a starting player on both a club team and the Hamilton varsity volleyball team. In addition to athletics, Fiona is also an outstanding scholar. She has a 4.3 weighted GPA and scored extremely high on both the ACT and SAT. She has taken many AP classes, including Biology, AP Language Arts and Composition, AP Calculus, AP Statistics and AP Mandarin. Fiona received many acceptance letters from colleges all over the country. She has chosen to attend AZUSA Pacific University in California where she plans to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and continue on to get her Masters in Nurse Practitioner. He has a GPA of 4.2 and has maintained a 4.0 or above throughout his time at Basha. He has been involved in National Honor Society for the last two years and has received the Outstanding Academic Accomplishment Award all four years. Gus played football at Basha for two years. Unfortunately, he sustained a serious back injury that withheld him from the field his junior and senior years, so he decided to stay involved with the program as a student volunteer coach. He enjoyed being a role model to the younger student athletes on the Freshman team and loved the opportunity he was given. She trains 20 hours per week while maintaining a 4.2 GPA. She received scholarship offers from multiple Division I college gymnastics teams. As a sophomore in high school, Anna committed to Sacramento State University on a full athletic scholarship, and she will be competing on their Division I gymnastics team in the spring of 2020. Sydney has been in Student Government her junior and senior year, where she learned exceptional leadership skills. When things got tough, Sydney never quit... which has made her a well-rounded Basha student athlete. Sydney's freshman year, she made JV softball and was sad because all her friends made Varsity that year, but she refused to give up. In fact, it made her work harder. Sydney switched over from hitting righty to slapping on the left side to use the speed she had. Since then, Sydney has acquired so much confidence hitting left handed. Last season, Sydney made 1st Team All CUSD, 1st Team All-Region, and has signed to continue playing softball at Mesa Community College next season on a Presidential Scholarship. Hayden is one of the top discus throwers on the Varsity Track and Field team, with hopes of qualifying for the state competition. Hayden has volunteered his time at Feed My Starving Children and helped with the veteran recognition night. CUSD had four individual state champions among the boys. Zach Espalin of Chandler High (113 pounds), Alex Rodriguez of Basha High (126 pounds), Joe Carey of Basha High (182 pounds) and Nathaniel Deasey of Chandler High (220 pounds) brought home medals. Leonela Lizarraga and Brooke Eversden, both underclassmen, also ran great times. This team has finished in 1st or 2nd place at State in each of the last four years. Morgan and Mihajla will continue their cross country careers at Stanford and Loyola - Chicago in the fall.

Tristan's 5th place finish out of 89 other 8U boys from 4 different states solidified his spot and earned him a full travel scholarship to compete in Reno. On December 9, he will race the fastest kids in the country for a chance to become a Junior Olympic All American! Good luck, Tristan!

Nathaniel Deasey is a National Champion and Zachary Espalin took 4th. CHS had two of only three wrestlers in the whole state of Arizona to earn All-American status.

Not only was he able to graduate high school, but he won the silver at the Junior Grand Prix (JPG) Final 2017, was the 2017 JPG Austria Champion, and is the 2018 U.S. National Junior Champion. He also placed 6th in the World Championships this year.
