STATE CHAMPIONSHIP:  Auxier Elementary sixth grader Lundyn Smith has been a SUPERSTAR on the Casteel Junior High Academic Pentathlon team this year. During the state competition Lundyn was named 1st in the state in three of the five events and the top sixth grader in science. She was #1 overall for honors sixth graders. She also beat all honors seventh graders and only one honors eighth grader outscored her. Lundyn and Casteel advance to Nationals which will be held in about a month. Arizona is one of the top states in Pentathlon, so she is a legitimate contender for National Champion. Coach Sheila Wilson is very excited to have her join the pentathlon class next year. Sixth graders from feeder schools are eligible to compete on the Casteel team, but generally must study on their own to prepare for competition (can't attend class or club).
